I finally made another demo reel! This time, I'm trying to use some more serious lines in the demo because a certain someone said that I used too many cartoony lines in my previous demo that I couldn't play a serious role. Now I'm trying to prove that I can. I used Adobe Audition and Sony Vegas Pro 8 to edit/mix this demo reel and that was very time-consuming.

Please comment, rate, and most of all...critique!

Overall- and I know I'm being a hypocrite here- it seemed there wasn't always enough energy, but more strange was that there was sometimes an emotional disconnect; it's like you were saying one thing but thinking another.

"Yeah, let's party!" didn't sound like it was having fun. I couldn't really tell the context, but I would imagine it as a battle cry of some sort, in which case I would think mentioning a battle as a 'party' would make them more eager to fight.
The only thing that caught me off-guard with the second one was the laugh, which contrasted what seemed to be a dark, mysterious, brooding villain with someone who's sly and cunning.
The third and fourth voices didn't seem necessary to me, just because it's not anything new and they weren't particularly convincing (especially the "oh boy oh boy oh boy" sounded like a tired amusement park worker in a Donald Duck costume).
The next one I would definitely stick to; I felt the attacks could have more of the wild abandon of the line, but probably the best of the reel.
The sixth was a bit hard to understand, but definitely a unique voice with energy behind it.
I understand the next one was supposed to be creepy (...right?), but it didn't quite come out right. It actually came out a little confused or desperate.
The eighth started out fine to me, although a little boring through "I know that has to hurt." I feel like it could've been pulled off more comedically, but since you wanted a more serious reel maybe you wanted him to seem more real?
The next three seemed a little slurred, but the first two are very distinct next to each other. The third one felt forced, though maybe it's the music choice; I felt like he was supposed to be undergoing some sort of serious, traumatic experience, but getting a girl to like him? I would think he's supposed to sound a little pathetic, not just sympathetic. But that's just me.
Don't do a little girl voice if it doesn't sound exactly like a little girl. If it's impressive, we'll be amazed. If it's lacking, we'll put it on the 'cons' list.

Overall, the performance felt like it was read off a page or tried for the first time. Definitely some characters taking shape in there, but maybe a little more development on their motivation would help. You also need to watch your diction ('wit'/'with', 'dis'/'this') and, strangely, some over-enunciation in some parts (third voice, for instance).

I'm a pretty critical person, though, so don't take it as, "Your reel sucks." I just think the fundamental flaw here is a lack of motivation for these characters; if that's established, I think you'll do much better and take it to the next level. At the length it's at, you could still cut out a couple lines and just stick to the very best; it does you no good to have 'okay' lines in a long reel when you can have an explosive, amazing reel that's not quite as long.

How do you know I was trying to sound like a girl? I could be trying to sound like a boy trying to sound like a girl. =P lol just kidding. But I removed that voice from the demo reel so it's not there anymore. Thanks for pointing that out.

And let this be a bump for more feedback.

You make a good Donald Duck.

The feeling won't cease, the vision never fades, the sound has no end.
While my senses grow dull, these remain sharpened.

Thank you! Donald is one of the most difficult voices to do and I've been working on it for almost 6 months and I'm still working on it. Hopefully it will improve but thanks for the comment. I'm glad you like the impression. xD

This demo reel really should get more feedback. I'm super cereal!

Anyway, you know what I think from skype. I like the first voice a really lot, you sound creepy, and scary. Voice 3, Donald is win win win! Yay for Donald!

Voice four: That bastard! How could he? Good job here.

Voice five: I love to hear you rant. Ranting is funneh!

    Voice six: Scaaary.

Voice seven: WTF IS HYPERKNEES NOT HERE TO WITNESS THIS? WTF????? He got hyperkneed, and Hyperknees ain't here. He would really laugh!

Voice 11: Ha ha, you're a school kid!

Anyway, I like how you did different emotions. Funny, sad, angry, pissed off, really good work.

Nice job with the mixing too.
