I'm relatively new to the forums - I've just joined today, but I have known about the community for some time now and have always wanted to participate in some way. I've decided that today is a good time to start. My project details are provided below:
Description
My project is a stop motion based trailer for a webcomic I am hoping to start in the near future. It will serve to highlight the main plot of the story and touch base on most of the characters within a short amount of time. The video will run about three to five minutes.
The webcomic revolves around the idea of culture shock - forcing a present-day young girl into a world heavily reliant on ideas of the past, mainly noble Victorian, as well as self sacrifice.
Kait Victora learns her classmate is actually a Prince from another world who chose present day suburban life over that of a wealthy ruler. The girl is transported to the world through her dreams and is forced to try and bring her classmate back, though her feelings for the boy go far beyond simple acquaintances.
I am looking for seven male actors and three females who can pull off Victorian accents - liberties can definitely be taken with defining a "Victorian accent." Keep in mind, some characters may be cut as they might not need voices attached to them due to screen time.
Edit: Victorian accents are being reconsidered. For the time being, we'd like to see more Princely takes on the characters. Please do not submit auditions with accents.

Characters:
Ebeniezer Valentine: - CAST
- He is a teenager of about seventeen years - extremely smooth in his speech. Eben has the ability to convince anyone of anything no matter how absurd it sounds. Pushy and strong-minded can be used to describe him.
- Sample lines (spoken both in Victorian and present day - simply for audition purposes.):
"Shot down again, huh? You know I'll keep shooting no matter how many times I miss." (playfully.)
“I’m talking about us – here and now. If you want to be important to me – if you want to be mine – you can’t have anyone else on your mind. The future will become present when you can say for sure you only want me.” (urgent - trying to be convincing.)
"So you've met my cousins, what of it?" (a bit agitated but quiet)
Jack Valentine: - CAST
- Also a teenager of about 17
- Caring and gentle - a bit shy. His role is that of companion and is always putting others before himself.
Sample lines:
"Hah-hah. JD. Nice to meet you. I've got to be honest, I've never met anyone through a note before." (Present day - jokingly and sweet.)
"This isn't Romeo and Juliet." (Victorian and present day - depressed tone.)
"[...]you don’t have to pretend to like or dislike anyone . . . just be true to yourself. I’m not trying to say you and Eben won’t work out or that you should . . .” (pause - gulp) “get with me, but . . . well, I just think you should start thinking for yourself, okay?" (concerned - quiet and a bit embarrassed.)
Kait Victora - CAST
-Teenage girl - a bit hot headed and reckless. She is never sure of what she wants but acts like she is. Plenty of giggling.
-Present day speak only.
Sample lines: "No. This is more like hell." Pause. "And I just want to leave - disappear." (depressed)
"You're six years old? Oh, yeah, and I'm two." (sarcastically)
"Boo!" (giggle.)
Victor Valentine: - CAST
-Teenage boy - the youngest of five brothers. Doesn't really care what anyone thinks, but is also capable of sensitive thought - he just doesn't show it. He is perverse and swears occasionally.
Sample lines:
"You really think that silly little girl is my fiance?" (smoothly with a smirk on his face.)
"How sweet" (pause.) "Self sacrifice always makes for a nice story. I hope you know you'll be taking me down with you if we go through with this." (sighing - overwhelmed.)
"I told you it was an accident." (dully, bored.)
Stephen Valentine: - CAST
Teenage boy - a little older than Victor. He can be classified as the "smart" one or the bookworm. He can be a bit of a push-over and enjoys serving others, however he is also very strong in his beliefs.
Sample lines:
"What a disgrace. You call yourself a nobleman? You can't even speak properly." (annoyed)
"Very well. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you." (a bit disappointed but attempting to hide it.)
"Certainly." (pause) "As you can see there are countless different murals that run down this grand hall. They were commissioned over a thousand years ago by King Rudolph III just after the civil war." (travel guide speak - very proper and sophisticated.)
Edmund Valentine: - CAST
-Second eldest brother who became head of the house with the death of Ezekiel Valentine. He is a bit stiff (monotone) and does not speak much but always manages to put those around him back into line. He's exceptionally giving and loves handing out candy.
Sample lines: "Miss Kait." (calling to gain attention.) "So I'm guessing you know the truth now? Or could it be that you don't know the whole truth?" (coolly)
"I should have known." (stern, annoyed - a bit quietly) "You should acknowledge your weaknesses as well as your brother's."
"Taffy?"
Alexandria - CAST
- Cold and icey noblewoman who likes to think of herself as a princess. She is single minded and only has dreams of ruling the Kingdom by marrying into the Valentine family.
Sample lines:
"How could I possibly stay away from you?" (slight giggle at the end/trying to show up another girl)
“How do you expect your fiancé to go along with something as absurd as allowing you, of all people, to be alone in a room with a wench like her?” (annoyed, hmph!)
"You don't have a dog on the premises, do you?" (slight worry)
King Manley: - CAST
Kind hearted ruler who is always anxious about how he is perceived by his people. Because of this, he can also be seen as harsh. Husky voice.
Sample line: "So nice of you two to join us." (annoyed.)
"I don't suppose you know why you're here, Miss Victora?" (hiding his anxiousness)
Kayla Manley
Run away princess with only one thing on her mind - marrying her doubtful fiance. Teenage and a bit conniving.
"Us?" giggle. "You want me to join you?"
"Aw! I love the nickname!"
[Spoken as if speaking to your soulmate.]
Frankie Harris
-Teenaged male. Dark, quiet and a bit sarcastic. Overly protective of Kait. A jester/servant to the King.
Sample Lines:
"What did you do to her?!" (Angry, loud)
"Noble Jack. What a surprise. Your presence is honorable." (dull, monotone.)
"Well, then. I believe you're done, little Miss Kait." (happily, proud.)
Deadline: Open, though if no auditions are received by mid November, project may be closed. 11/17/10
