A sample would be great! Just record whatever you like. Maybe a 1-2 sentence description of the microphone?

add SM7B to your list... one of the best vocal mics but needs a decent preamp. it's probably the best mic if you don't have a treated space as it is very directional and it is easy to play with the mic to get the sound you need...

I think this list is for USB mics only. But if you have a SM7B (which I've been meaning to buy for over a year now for recording punk vocals), it would be great to see a review of it here:

Check one-two on the microphone . . . samples are HERE.

So I was just wondering, what kind of mic do you currently use?

I use a Rode NT1-A Condenser mic. It's not USB so you can't hook it up directly to your computer. I used a Samson C01U before that, though.

If we aren't sticking with usb mics the Shure SM58 is a fantastic entry level vocal mic. If you have $350 the SM7B is also fantastic.

Hey guys. Just wanted to mention, i've been doing some tests with USB mics, and USB preamps lately, and just thought everyone should know, that some USB mics are very sensitive when used in a USB 2.0 port. They give off quite a bit of static hum with a larger range of frequencies, versus plugging into a usb 1.1. It's still a pretty low volume, barely noticeable, but if you are using the noise reduction software, can cause some funky issues due to the extra frequencies.
So make sure you test the mics in both ports to see if your mic is having that issue. Easiest way to tell is to turn your speaker volume all the way up, and bring the mic volume up slowly till you can hear the noise, and compare the mic in 2.0 with 1.1.
