My microphones been acting weird as of lately, like the title says it's a Samson C01U. I just finished going through a batch of auditions the other day, when I played back some of the recordings I picked up an odd high frequency. I attempted to mask it a bit by using an equalizer but that still made the recording sound odd, not completely getting rid of the problem.
As of now, my C01U is having a hard time picking me up for some reason. I speak from probably a good 6 inches away from the mic, where as first it picked me up loud and clear without a problem, now it's barely picking me up at all. Of course when I get closer, it gets louder obviously but this problem's so bad that I have to basically get within 1-2 inches of the mic for it to even pick me up clearly. That's causing my pop filter to be rendered useless since there tend to be pops in these new recordings. It may have a bit to do with how well I project but there are some voices I can't project very well with and I depend on the mic to at least pick them up.
If anyone has an idea, please let me know I want to get back to recording normally without all of these handicaps.
Thanks.
