Let's see here, way back in the dark ages (aka lastyear) I started a dub of Final Fantasy VIII's ending FMV sequence. It should've been a relatively short project but thanks to vanishing cast members, bad microphones, and my general laziness, things got off track and the dub was never finished. However, because of a seemingly random email (thanks Eve, whoever you are) I've decided to give this project another shot. Unfortunately, I never recieved lines for certain characters (i.e. I lost them) so some recasting is in order.
So, now that all my babbling's over with (okay, I lied. It's not over with) Here's what I need as far as characters are concerned.
Seifer Almasy - Seifer's generally a pain in the you-know-what, at least as far as this clip is concerned. In this particular scene, he's out fishing and hasn't been very succesful so he's even more POed than usual. He's frustrated to the point of screaming, so no holding back, be as loud as you want for the audition lines. Unfortunately he doesn't have many lines so the audition lines aren't very long. Voice-type: Male, medium range
This roles involves voice-synching to a video
LINE 1: Stupid fish! GRRR, THIS SUCKS!
LINE 2: [POed growl]
LINE 3: [Loud, but relieved laughter]
Raijin - One of Seifer's lackeys, Raijin's kind of an idiot. He tends to ramble when talking and he really doesn't know when to shut up. In this scene, he's just caught a fish (which doesn't make Seifer very happy) and he's doing a little dance to celebrate. Of course Fujin (his partner) ends up kicking him off the dock as punishment. Voice-type: Male, low range, quick but stupid speech
LINE 1: Hey, hey! I got one, I got one. Hey Fujin check it out! It's huge. Oh this's gone make one heck of a dinner. I can't wait.
LINE 2: [VOCAL FOLEY - being kicked off the dock into the water]
Irvine Kineas - Galbadia's greatest playboy. Irvine is self-confident, flirtatious, and smooth talking. In this scene, Irvine manages to sexually harass Quistis, steal a video camera, and ogle some highschool girls all within the space of seven minutes, fun for all. Oh and please, NO SOUTHERN ACCENTS. Voice-type: Male, medium range
LINE 1: Hey, how's it goin' Selphie?
LINE 2: Aw, come on Quistis (pronounced Key-stiss.) [gets the brush off] Hmph, what's her problem?
LINE 3: [Flirtatious] Hey there ladies. [get's chewed out for flirting] H-hey, come on, I was just bein' friendly.
Headmaster Cid Kramer - Cid's the middleaged headmaster of Balamb Garden (who also bears an uncanny resemblance to Robin Williams) He's just a nice old guy who cares a lot for his wife and his students, there isn't much more to it. I know, this type of role is hard to do but I really hope people will give it a try. Voice-type: Male, middle-aged to elderly, medium to medium-low range
LINE 1: Ah, hello there Ms. Trepe
LINE 2: Oh no, it was you kids who did all the real work.
LINE 3: Come here, I'd like to introduce you to someone.
Squall Leonhart - Squall doesn't have much of a role for this clip, but keep in mind, this is the more reformed Squall. He's still taciturn but he's mellowed out quite a bit. Also, he's speaking to Rinoa, the girl he loves, in this scene so that should be reflected in the voicing. Voice-type: Male, medium-low range
LINE 1: How about this... I'll be here...I'll be waiting for you.
LINE 2: If you come here...you'll find me. I promise.
Ellone - Finally, a female role. (hey, it's not my fault all the girls actually sent their lines in) This is the grown-up Ellone, she's soft spoken and a little bit world weary but in this scene she's finally come home so certainly put some excitement into your read. Other than that, there's not much more to say. I'm open to any type of voice for this role so everyone feel free to audition. Sorry for the lack of auditon lines, she doesn't really say much. Voice-type: Female, medium range
LINE 1: [SHOUTING ACROSS A FIELD] Uncle Laguna! I'm home!
LINE 2: [TALKING TO HERSELF] Wow, it's beautiful.
And that's that. Feel free to audition for as many characters as you want. Multiple takes on a line are appreciated so if your not sure which one of your recordings sounds better, send both. Record your lines as Mp3s (stereo or mono, it doesn't matter) and name them name_character_line number.mp3
EX: merr_Zell_01.mp3
put 'em in a zip file named yourname_FFVIII.zip
EX: merr_FFVIII.zip
Put a .txt file in the zip that contains your name, resume link (if you have one), email address, and some other way of contacting you (AIM, etc.)
Once you've got all that, attach the file to an email and send it off to mechabomber@gmail.com
Give the email a subject like "FFVIII auditions" or something similar
I think that's it. I really look forward to getting this thing finished up and I apologize for taking so long. If you were in this already, go ahead and audition again. Double-casting isn't an issue at this point.
Thanks in advance everyone!
