The Phantom "sequel" is sure to be an atrocity, we all know this. Anyway, it's just going to be a moment that will be utterly shunned and ignored by fans the universe over, so it is no issue in the least.

I'm kinda hoping deep down in my heart that "Love Never Dies" will be SOOOOOO bad that it drags the original down in the sinking ship with it. A girl can dream of ALW's downfall. I will admit, he has a few songs I like. But the problem is that he pickes one main melody for his shows and repeats it so many time you wanna walk out of the theatre by the 9th time you've heard a variation of "Angel of Music."

And then a chandelier falls from the ceiling, and you are stunned and say "oh shiny"... And you forgive him, however briefly for making you sit through his trash... But you soon remember why you hate him as nothing really compares to that moment in the show... Except maybe fireballs... But even then... There's no excuse.

I think ALW learned all about leitmotifs, and thought, "Hey, if they can do it in opera, I should do it in the Phantom of the Opera..." But little does he know that the only modern composer that can use leitmotifs effectively is Sondheim. I mean, look at Sweeney Todd... Just look at it. Same melodies over and over again... But they are used really well, and you kinda overlook the fact that they are all the same. But he uses the magical counterpoint to weave all of his leitmotifs together and makes wonderful magic happen.
