D: I just got a new mic and everything, and my cousin messed with the mixer in my volume control and now my mic is giving back feedback and I dunno what to do because it doesn't have a default button anywhere.

the mic is a logitech clearcomfy usb port headset

Make sure you have the mixer set to pick up only the external microphone for the input and normal playback settings for the output. That's the only thing I can think of

Go to the windows sound volume panel:

    Start>all programs>entertainment>volume control (on XP)

    Then find Mic. Click advanced.

If you cannot see advanced, Options>Advanced Options *tick*

If 20db boost is selected, disable it. (I think your cousin accidentally enabled it!!)

If not, try using it when "Mute" is checked. Surprisingly, this doesn't mute it when used in skype or audio programs.

    Hope this helps!!

Where would I find that if I have Window's Vista Basic?

Well, first of all, you should either upgrade or downgrade anyway, but from what I remember of Vista you had to go to Control Panel > Sound (or sound devices) > Microphone (or recording), then go to 'options' or 'advanced' or something along those lines. Should be easy from there.
