Evensong (My Intro to Audio Production Final Project)

So, I had to make this as the final project for my Intro to Audio Production class. Well, I didn't HAVE to make this; I could have done anything I wanted. But a radioplay was the only thing I could think of.

Really really REALLY huge thanks to my cast. I put a lot of stress on your girls, and I was under a lot of stress too. Plus, I feel that I didn't do as good a job directing this as I could have. I really appreciate you guys being willing to put up with my pickiness and my rushing, even among your own busy schedules. It was a lot of work, and you guys helped make this project come out as good as it did.

As for some closing thoughts, this is what I already know it needs work on, as well as what the class and Professor said about it:

Classmates:

- Good job
- A lot of work
- Like Final Fantasy or an Anime.

Professor:
- Interesting that the witches were young and not hag-like
- Set up a different kind of world
- Hard to hear Aria because of the effect
+ Raise the level, do some EQ
- Could use more ambience and less music
- Music was consistent with the source it was based on
- Led to a lot of questions about the details of the witches and their backstory
+ GOOD
- Wanted a twist ended
+ Sisters and Aria are all in cahoots with each other
+ Like a test and he passed because he let the sisters go

Notes:
- I wish I had put more effects in the last half of the play. I was running out of time very quickly, so that part all got a bit rushed. If I could go back and redo it, I would definitely work harder at making Aria's spell HUGANTIC! Also, more footsteps. <.<

So yeah. Not looking for HUGE critique on this, but some comments would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time writing and mixing a radioplay, so tell me what you think.

OH~! interesting! Considering that it was your first time mixing a radioplay, this was really good. Except for the few things you already listed, this was really well done. I really enjoyed it! ^_^

I've been wanting to comment on this for a while. I'd go in-depth with the critique, but I'll just do a little one.

Akumaryu: You're so good at main-hero character type of guys. No really big complaints, but nothing especially stood out.

MissAck: Really liked your bad-ass-ness here. I'm pretty sure you're the older sister here, and you definitely played the role. I want a sister like you. :<

Kennidy: You great, girl. I liked your range here, and I especially liked the voice you used. It's definitely different than your usual stuff, which is why I loved it so much. It sounds very natural and fits so well with the entire thing.

LOH: I love your voice as always. My only problem is that your sweet anime-esque style sort of ruined the originality for me, making me feel like it's an anime rather than something more original. Other than that, emotion was spot on and very nice performance.

Story: The story was, eh, anime. Nothing much I liked, but I didn't hate it. Some of the scripting came off a bit awkward, but others I really liked, like when Kennidy said "I love you, sis" when they were about to die (very touching, and actually realistic).

Mixing: It was nice and simple, but I really liked it! I agree that the effect sometimes made it difficult to understand LoH, but it was still a good effect. SFX were nicely placed, but I felt that sometimes there could be a little more. Ambience was great and so was the music.

Overall, it was amazing acting and amazing mixing! Great job guys~

Glad you didn't hate it. I knew it was a bit cliched from the get-go, but given the tight time-constraints I had, I had to come up with something useable, so that's what I ended up with. I'm not the greatest writer of scripts in the world, so I'm pleased to have been able to put out a product that at least wasn't boring.

One day, when I grow up, I'll be a real writer. XD

In regards to the mixing, I'm glad you caught the ambience. Spent a good deal of time trying to come up with something realistic. Hopefully the scene and location was portrayed accurately. The music I spent probably too much time on. So much editing and looping and cutting and pasting. I would say the music was the best part of this, in terms of work done. Of course, I am a musician, so I guess that should be expected (?). I suppose I SHOULD list all the tracks I used.
