Part of a much larger fandub collaboration I'm doing with Hyperknees. I recorded these lines a little while ago but I figured I may as well upload this as a standalone scene before the full thing is done; for the final project, Hyperknees is casting/mixing the full second half of Escaflowne episode 5.
The full cast is yet to be sorted, but as you can see from this I'm playing Van and Folken, as an experimentation of range and vocal differentation.
    Feedback welcome as always! ;D

Thought you did an excellent job on both characters, I can't really nitpick at anything, as I see the improvement with you voicing characters that are younger than/around your age, and you have that specialty with characters like Folken.

P.S You need to get on Skype at some point

    Dude. Fantastic.

The only possible thing I could pick at is the "You cannot escape from this floating fortress" line. It seemed to be delivered a bit oddly like there was an unecessary pause after the "You."

Other then that (and that bit might just be my imagination) the delivery of all of your lines were ideal. It's amazing how you can deliver lines in the most interesting and cool way possible, while making it sound completely natural.

All in all, the mixing was fantastic, the voices differed greatly and fitted the characters perfectly and the emotions and the subtleties of your performance reminded me how f*ckin' awesome you are at what you do.

Really brilliant work, I can't praise this thing highly enough.

Wow, thanks so much, BossTrigger! That means a lot to me =) Glad you guys liked it.

For the mixing I had to search around on the net and probably ended up using at least 10 different sword sounds in this lol. It's surprising how difficult it is to make just the right combination of scabbard and metallic noises.

That one Folken line *is* a bit drawn out as I had to match the lipflaps unfortunately. In the original dub, he says "You cannot escape from this floating fortress, my brother". Which seems inappropriate as it's not been revealed that they're brothers. So I decided to shorten the line and just deliver it the way I did. But maybe I should have extended it a bit instead to make up for the missing words. I'll think about that for the full dub. Maybe "It is not possible for you to escape from this floating fortress" would work?

For delivery in general, I've learned a massive deal from listening to the work of Simon Templeman (from Legacy of Kain, Dragon Age, Uncharted, Final Fantasy 12 (judge Zargabaath)). He always seems to have an interesting way of delivering lines; he never makes them predictable or stale regardless of dialogue. So that's something I really strive for, and I'm really glad that made an impact. Thanks again!

Oh, and if you guys are interested there are so many extras needed for the full episode clip (lots of guards and crew members etc) so you'd be welcome to be involved. We can maybe chat over skype once I've finished with my current mass of university work lol.

It's why I must actually pay some attention to Simon Templeman myself.

Certainly mindful of the scripting I see. And yeah, lip flaps are dicks. And "It is not possible" sounds might feel a bit forced (although the lack of conjuctions might give Folken a more regal or proper presence, which could work). Maybe: "You have no hope/chance of escaping this floating fortress."
