Deadline: 30th April
Hello VAA. ^^ Some of you may have seen my prologue audition thread already, others maybe not. Anyway, the roles of the Narrator, Shadow, Luke and Giovanni have been taken, but chapter 1 introduces a whole load of new characters.
Chapter 1 and the rest of the story can be found here.
Chapter 1 (Arrival in Pallet Town) introduces the six main characters in the story: Joshua, Jennie, George, Molly, Tom and Anna. It also introduces a minor character, Joshua's mother.
Joshua wakes up in an unfamiliar room, recognised as the player's bedroom in Pokemon Red and Blue. He explores the room, withdrawing a potion from the strange computer, and seeing the map of Kanto. He goes downstairs, where he meets his 'mum' who tells him to go and see Professor Oak. As he is about to leave, the door flies open and he is introduced to a friend of his, Anna. After a few minutes of rambling, she drags him outside to meet his other friends: Tom, George, Molly and Jenny.
If you could send me your auditions (in a format playable on windows media player) to joshuaburningham@hotmail.com, that would be great.
Roles Casted that are required
Narrator: ForgottenSnow
Roles Required
Name: Joshua
Age: 14-18
Gender: Male
Bio: Serious, shy and unsure of his own abilities, Josh has always had a love for Pokemon games, and especially for his favourite Pokemon, Pikachu. Having never been one for strategy or tactics, can he cope with real battles, or will his lack of Pokemon experience prove too big a flaw?
Voice type: Not too deep a voice, soft-speaking, able to portray emotion. Doesn't need to shout much, so as long as you can sound shy, friendly and just normal, you should be fine.
Audition line 1:
He next grabbed a tissue and held it to his nose, waiting for the nosebleed to stop. He cautiously watched the girl, who was looking around with a frown. She then glanced at Joshua, before saying quickly, "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! Hey, your nose is bleeding."
Joshua pushed himself to his feet, struggling to let words escape from his lips, before frowning, "Uh... Yeah... That's why I have a tissue to my nose." He broke off, before managing to say, "U-Uh... Yeah... I'm fine. Who are-" He was cut off as the girl dashed inside, glancing around at the room with some kind of amazement.
(The line is the two parts in bold) An example of Joshua's shyness. He's confused, trying to work out who Anna is and what she is doing there. The first line should be spoken with slight sarcasm, as if talking to a small child. Second part is stuttered at start.
Audition Line 2:
"Hands off my Pokémon!" Josh exclaimed, stepping forward, only for Jennie to grab his arm, a slight smile of amusement on her face. Joshua stopped, before snapping, "You know Pikachu has been my favourite of all 493 Pokémon!"
One of the few times Josh is angry. Although it's rare, you still need to be able to snap and sound annoyed to play the character.
Audition Line 3:
"Pikachu, use thundersh-" Before he could even finish, Pikachu sprung forward, jumping into the air, "...ock." But the speed of Pikcahu's attack took Jennie by surprise, and the mouse was already charging power before she realised.
Think typical Pokemon Anime command here. Like Ash, just not so cheesy. You need to get really into the whole battle for first part, before suddenly breaking off and saying last part quietly, confused.
Audition Line 4:
Before he could finish, the bird dipped down beneath the clouds, revealing Josh's fear to be true. The bird was blue, and a strange sparkle seemed to emit. The bird's keen eyes were focused on Josh and Jennie, and an ice beam began to form in its mouth. Josh's eyes widened, watching as the huge bird descended in a perfect, diagonal line towards them. "Articuno!" He shouted, before adding, "Run!"
While it's only two words, this is so I can hear how good you are at sounding urgent and scared. Put as much of those two things into this as possible. A bird that could kill you in seconds in lunging towards you, how do you talk?
Audition Line 5:
“Pikachu, what are you doing?” Josh shouted, frowning. Pikachu glared at the Bulbasaur determinedly as the leaves continued to get closer, looking as if about to try a move he’d never been able to do. “No, don’t! Just dodge!” Josh’s eyes widened and he stepped forward, but he saw sparks flying off Pikachu. He would be unable to touch the mouse without being shocked himself.
First part asked in confusion, not knowing what Pikachu is trying to do. Second part with panic and worry, not wanting Pikachu to be hurt.

Name: Jennie
Age: 12-18
Gender: Female
Bio: Josh's best, best friend, Jennie is half serious and half not. Armed with several random catch-phrases, Jennie is difficult to beat in an argument whenever you anger her. But despite that, she is brave, always willing to help her friends. Jennie is the most experienced in knowledge of the Pokemon themselves, but has never cared much for the games and battling. But being one that was never into Pokemon as much as the others, can she still rise up to their power?
Voice type: Able to joke, speak sarcastic, shout and argue. Voice depth doesn't matter, she can be a loud or quiet character.
Audition Line 1:
Jennie pondered slightly, "I don't know what I want my starter Pokémon to be... I don't really mind, but I hope it is cute." There were nods of agreement from the others, before she glanced to Josh, who hadn't said a word, "Are you okay, Josh?"
An example of her talking normally. The first part just an ordinary conversation, the second part with concern for her best friend, and slight worry.
Audition Line 2:
"That was doomed to end in disaster." Jennie commented, sighing, before pulling Anna away from the blob, wrinkling her nose in disgust, "Ugh. I hope Squirtle is one of the Pokémon, at least it can wash this stuff off." Anna let out a whimper, before Jennie reluctantly hugged her, disgust obvious on her face.
Again, spoken with disgust. The first part almost emotionless, but still with a hint of amusement at what just happened to Anna.
Audition Line 3:
"A shiny Pokémon is a very rare type of Pokémon that is a different colour to the majority of the rest of its species." Jennie explained before Oak could answer. She continued to say, "For example, a shiny Pikachu is orange, a shiny Vulpix is a pale yellow and a shiny Psyduck is a light blue."
An example of her knowledgeable side. You're speaking like a nerd, sound like one.
Audition Line 4:
Another shriek followed, and Jennie cried out from the very high pitch of it, before a strong gust of wind signalled the Articuno disappearing back into the clouds. Josh and Jennie stopped running, Jennie quickly hugged Josh, who held her in his embrace, both shivering uncontrollably. The snowfall began to settle, and Jennie, asked shakily, "I-Is it gone?"
A short line, but one that demonstrates your ability to show urgency and fear. Put as much of those two things into this as possible. A bird that could kill you in seconds in lunging towards you, almost hitting you, and now just vanished. How do you talk?
Audition Line 5:
“Leap over the vines and use tackle, Eevee!” Jennie countered, “Let’s finish this, for Pikachu!”
Jennie's Pokemon trainer line. Think anime, think Misty/May/Dawn, think of less cheese.

Name: George
Age: 14-18
Gender: Male
Bio: The joker of the group, rarely taking anything seriously, George doesn't let anything stop him from having fun. However, he has difficulty getting along with those without the sense of humour he has, which quickly leads to some kind of conflict. However, he knows a lot about Pokemon, and with his training and battling skills, he will be a difficult trainer to beat.
Voice type: Deep-voiced. Able to portray comedy, sarcasm but also- shyness. Needs to sound convincing and tough when in arguments.
Audition Line 1:
George replied quietly, "Yeah, I remember that. But come on, it's not that surprising. It's rather cliché really, don't worry about it. Action, adventure, who cares?" Molly's eyes suddenly widened, and she whispered something to George, who rolled his eyes, "Okay, tragedy too. Maybe one of us will lose the Pokémon league. That's about as much tragedy as you can get in Pokémon."
Starts off sounding serious and deep in thought, but shortly dismisses it and takes a light-hearted and sarcastic tone. "Okay, tragedy too" should be in an irritable tone, the kind of 'stop nagging me' type.
Audition Line 2:
"Oh please, what could possibly be scary about Pokémon?" George asked, rolling his eyes, before a certain lump of a rock with a huge nose and moustache came to his mind, "Well... Maybe some are freaky, but it's a children's game made into an anime for crying out loud, what IS scary about it? Pokémon can't even die."
Though similar to audition line 1, I have to hear you do this line for my decision. Spoken with sarcasm and irritance.
Audition Line 3:
George rose to his feet, coming up to the boy's shoulders. Seeing the major height difference, he backed away slightly as the other five rose to join him, except Anna who remained lying down dreaming of Psyducks. George finally rolled his eyes, before asking, "And who the heck are you? Why are you eavesdropping?"
Spoken in an argumentative, challenging tone also with anger.
Audition Line 4:
"H-Huh?" George stuttered in response as he stepped even closer to Molly, gazing into her hazel-coloured eyes, "I'm not blushing... The c-cold makes my cheeks go red. Um... Sure... Jacket, right. A-And, nothing could ruin your cuteness." He leaned forward, beginning to button the jacket up for her. He avoided eye contact with Molly, feeling her breath on his face as he completed the task. He shuddered slightly, before quickly doing up the last button, withdrawing immediately.
Andddd now for one of George's rare shy moments. It's obvious if you read the story why he is stuttering so much, so just use your common sense. Show me a different side of your voice acting, a different side of George.
Audition Line 5:
"Nice try, birdie." George commented to himself, before saying, "Let's injure the other wing, use scratch!" Charmander sprung up into the air, slashing his fangs into the Pidgey's left, causing both of them to drop to the ground.
Now here is George's Pokemon trainer audition line. Think anime, think Ash, think of less cheese than in the anime.
CASTED TO ANIVIDS

Name: Molly
Age: 11-16
Gender: Female
Bio: With a weakness for cute Pokemon, Molly is one of the least experienced in the group, caring more for how her Pokemon feel and look than whether they're physically strong or not. However, Molly is one of the trainers to prove that the relationship between trainer and Pokemon is a key skill to battling, and that may well prove more important than her lack of knowledge.
Voice type: The character is 12 years old, so the voice actor needs to be able to speak childishly. Must be able to argue, snap, sound cute, flirty, romantic and whiny. You must sound like an adorable child, in other words.
Audition Line 1:
"Anna!" The girl whined, before returning the hug, looking rather disappointed, "I was about to hug Joshy-kun!"
...Just sound whiny, and you won't disappoint. Joshy-kun... Hopefully you know some Japanese, to know how 'kun' is pronounced. It's a nickname that Molly has for Joshua.
Audition Line 2:
"Wow, Tom can do maths." Molly said sarcastically. Tom just glared at her.
Sarcasm time!
Audition Line 3:
"My fox has a name!" Molly replied angrily, "And duh, it has a crush on your Charmander."
Two emotions in this line. Anger for the first part, and the second... It's an audience 'awwww' moment, you must make it that. Cute. Maybe even add an 'Aww' yourself.
Audition Line 4:
"That is, if your lizard really can take on the awesomeness of my Vulpix?" Molly questioned, before releasing the fox. However, as soon as the Vulpix formed, she immediately started rubbing her head affectionately on Charmander's arm, who blushed again. "Vuuuuulpix!" Molly sighed, exasperated, "Get ready to battle; it's no time to be lovey dovey. You're going to defeat that lizard in a minute." Vulpix reluctantly returned to standing in front of Molly, looking ready for battle.
First part in a jokey tone. Second part in, as stated, exasperation and a whiny tone.
Audition Line 5:
"Vulpix!" Molly cried, crouching down beside the fox, who gazed up at her, "Are you alright?" The fox nodded, so Molly quickly said, "Then use 'Roar'!" Vulpix nodded, and advanced as menacingly as possible on the Vaporeon, who watched uncertainly. The Vulpix suddenly let out a high pitched roar, surprising the Vaporeon and making the Grunt cover her ears. "Now Vulpix, tackle at full power!"
Molly's Pokemon trainer line. Think anime, think Misty/May/Dawn. Think of less cheese. However, first part must be said with worry and concern for Vulpix.

Name: Tom
Age: 13-18
Gender: Male
Bio: Sarcastic and a dry sense of humour, Tom finds himself in the most unlucky of situations, which end up just being a reason to laugh for the others. Tom has a tendency to act before thinking, which leads to a lot of sticky situations. Despite his tendency for mistakes, Tom is the most knowledgeable about Pokemon, and like George, is a fierce rival for best Pokemon trainer.
Voice type: Able to portray sarcasm and annoyance is most important. But shyness and awkwardness is also needed.
Audition Line 1:
"Oh, um, hey Josh!" Tom exclaimed, adjusting his glasses which had been knocked half off his face from the fall, before backing away for some reason, looking rather fearful, "Sorry about that! But, um, I must go. Good to see you and all that, see-" His eyes widened, and he cut off, before dashing off into the town, leaving Joshua looking perplexed.
Spoken in a rushed, slightly guilty tone. Last part as he cuts off spoken with fear.
Audition Line 2:
Tom was the first to reply, saying, "Yep. Psyduck, some stupid, yellow... Blob. The other is its evolved form, my second favourite, Golduck! Much more awesome than Psyduck. I'm going to get one as soon as possible." He took a pile of cards from his pocket, browsing through them. He stopped and drew one out, showing the 'Psyduck' card to Anna, "See? There's the blob. However..." He then drew out Golduck, showing it to her. The wide smile that had been present for Psyduck was replaced with boredom on Anna's face.
His knowledge of Pokemon comes through here. Boredom in his voice while talking about Psyduck, but more excited when ending the line.
Audition Line 3:
"That... was creepy." Tom commented dryly, before shrugging, "Anyway. Maybe we'll face tragedy, not much we can do if its destined. Anywho, did you also notice it said EIGHT children? That means there's two others, cause... One, two, three, yup. Only six of us here."
First part spoken dryly, as stated. Second part spoken with boredom once more. Last part in sarcasm, and fake surprise at there being six.
Audition Line 4:
"What about you?" Tom shouted, looking at Marcel, "Aren't you going to fight, or don't you have a decent enough Pokémon?"
Spoken before he thought about it, in a challenging, mocking tone.
Audition Line 5:
"Don't worry Squirtle!" Tom shouted with a quick reaction, "Dodge and with full power, use 'Water Gun!' on Rhydon, then tackle as hard as possible at Scyther." Squirtle nodded and gulped, before leaping into the air. At that same second, Rhydon lunged, horn spinning quickly and dangerously. But the horn pierced mid-air as Squirtle sprung above it, turning to face the rhino, and sending a big jet of water at the top of Rhydon's head. With Rhydon slightly weakened, Squirtle turned to face Scyther, still in the air. "Tackle!" Tom reminded her, and she charged as fast as possible, hitting Scyther right in the stomach, knocking it backwards to the ground.
Tom's Pokemon trainer line. Think anime, think Ash. Think of less cheese. Tom's the best battler of the six, speak like you know what you're doing.
