    Bloopers!

This is probably one of the hardest projects I ever had to mix. I tried to pay attention to every little detail I could. Overall I think the final product is pretty good =] Critiques and comments are always welcome as long as they're constructive. Hope you all enjoy and thanks to this amazing cast of awesome people. Special Thanks to Koichi Saito for the amazing OP and ED work. I hope everyone enjoys!

For those of you interested, I'm going to start up a project to fan-dub some of my favorite moments of Valkyria Chronicles. I'll be putting up an audition thread shortly and if you're interested I hope to hear some auditions from you.

    It's out! Epiiiiiic :3

Another train of thought review - hopefully this is of some service...

Falis: Michihari - I have to say overall I wasn't entirely thrilled with your performance here. To your credit, the voice was very good - I like the quality and sound of a number of your lines and I'm sure you can carry this character eventually with a bit of work. My main complaint was on enunciation, since a lot of your lines sounded like all the words weren't coming out cleanly enough and occasionally I couldn't always understand everything you were saying. On your softer, more reflective lines, you suddenly got much clearer and had wonderful tone and I really enjoyed those performances, but as soon as you got to the yelling or more confident lines, you really lost steam for me. Her scream when she first realizes she's in Alita's body was really good, but I was hoping for more
panic and hysteria in her line following when she's shaking the crap out of Dominikov. Also, your sort of confident swagger faded in and out for me as the performance went on, so I would try to look for consistency there as well. Again, I really did hear some good stuff in your performance and I know you could do this eventually. I would just work on speaking more clearly, keeping the character a bit more consistent, and push your over the top reactions even further. That aside, congrats for managing such a large and tricky role as far as you did, this isn't an easy character and I think you did hold up well all things considered.

Dominikov: Majinboo0111 - Your self cast here was definitely very appropriate. The voice really worked for this character and a lot of times your deliveries were fantastic. "How could I be alright!?" and "Next time don't ask!" were awesome deliveries of those lines in particular ;D My only note was that on some of your regular speaking dialogue you lost some of the energy and the character wasn't as distinctive as I was hoping. I would keep the same kind of energy and slightly wackiness to the character throughout and sound a bit less casual on dialogue that otherwise might seem pretty straightforward. That aside, this was one of my favorite performances here, so awesome job!

Pete: Hokage Titan - "You don't catch good" was hilarious XD I really love the voice on this and he had a great sort of a big lovable hulking lug quality going for him as a result of your performance. For the most part whenever you spoke, I kept thinking "awwwwwww". No real complaints here - great job XD

King of Forland: Bladeblur - Overall, I did like your performance here. I think your acting was solid and there were a few very good deliveries for your character. "It's too late, you must leave" was very good in particular.
There were still some enunciation issues here and there and since the music over you was really loud, I did loose some of what you were saying. But I think you managed to work your accent in for your favor and overall I was pleased with what you did here =D

Alita: EmmyDoll - I don't think I've heard you in that much, but I think you gave a fairly solid performance here as Alita. The voice was a bit on the higher/thinner side at times (this kind of faded in and out, so you may want to watch vocal consistency) and I would have liked to hear maybe a bit more regal bearing to it, but you did carry the character pretty well otherwise. I think your screaming was fairly legit, but the peaking on it really through me off (not sure if that is your fault or mixing though). Also, in the scene where you're begging for Falis to help you, the emotion stayed on more or less the same level and I was hoping you'd be able to sound more intent and desperate. Overall, I'd just work on your more over the top moments and you have a lovely start for this character.

    Jodo: Lionfayt
    - Non type cast role for the win! I really liked what you did with this character and I think the older voice worked very well for you. I would have liked to hear more energy on his inner dialogue and accusation of the doctor since he is one of the more over the top type of characters. As I watched the episode, towards the end where you were commenting on the battle, I started hearing this, so I think it was just a bit of a consistency thing.

Milano: Missack - Nice job with the couple of lines you did have. I didn't really find anything to pick at, so good performance! It's a shame we didn't get to see more.

    Ana/Yuna: ~xXLittlexGurlXx~
-Your lines were peaking a lot and that made you somewhat difficult to listen to, but your energy and voice for Ana in particular was extremely notable as one of my favorite performances here. Acting and voices were extremely distinct and very solid and just overall I was very very pleased with what I saw. Occasionally I think it might have been just a tad on the high side for you when you spoke a bit louder or yelled since your voice broke just a tad. Yuna sounded so adorably cute though <3

Cecilia: DragonKnightTara - I think I heard a bit of peaking on my first line, but otherwise I was pleased how things lined up otherwise. I wish I had a bit more chance to do something with the character, but it was really fun just to be a part of this project. ;D

The Dark Knight: Darkwolf - Nice grunt and one line? Again, I want to hear you do more with this character, and though I was expecting you to go a bit deeper with it I think the voice worked from what I heard. Maybe throw in a bit of beige as well? I tease XD

    Mixing:
Overall, this seems like you really worked hard to make this sound good and thorough and I think overall you really did succeed. I have a train of thought review below, but in general a few things I noticed was a lot of peaking on certain characters lines and screams in general, and occasional spots where effects and/or music seemed a bit on the empty side.

-Music when the King is sending Alita off was a little too loud and seemed to drown out BladeBlur
-The initial attack against the door about 5 minutes in didn't resonate as much as it needed too. The door sounded like a regular being hit
-The falling/crunching sound of the first soldier sounded very VERY reel... eeeeew
    - When the second soldier was eaten, the sound felt really empty and I would have liked to hear more crunching or movement noises.
-Falling off of the cliff, the music and effects and performance didn't really build and since this is such a pivital moment that really starts off the series, I was hoping for a bit more of a dramatic sound that would really key us into that.

That aside, I think this was a strong full episode dub and I'm really glad to see that everyone pulled through and got this out. Great work everyone and especially Congrats to Majin =D

    Omigosh it's out!!

I just watched the whole thing and it was FANTASTIC. I'll do a full critique later (have to run out the door right now) but I just want to say that this is a really fantastic piece of work and I'm so happy that I got to be a part of it. This was my first large role in a fandub and I'm really pleased with the result. While my own performance certainly wasn't perfect, the overall quality of the dub was just great!

    Great job everyone!

This was a pretty decent fandub all in all.

I won't give a full fledge critique at the moment but I will point out the one thing that stood out to me.

Emmy Doll your yells had good energy and I can tell you were trying to really pull them off. However they come out a bit over-acted and it sounds like you were too focused on just being really loud, so just keep practicing on making them more realistic (keep the energy though as that is in the right direction).

Sadly, I'm gonna be one of the many who can't put out a full critique at the moment. *has to go to bed* >< sorry.

But I must say Majinboo, the amount of time you took on the mixing really paid off. Even for a newb audience *cough* like myself -gets shot- xD*cough*, I don't think I would notice any bit of mistake really. It was worth the wait for this <3. *gives you a cookie*

    Okkaaaaay! Critique time!

Michiari/Falis - You have a good voice for the character and delivered a few of the more challenging lines really well! Your voice actually reminded me a lot of the official Funi dub voice. ^^ However, I didn't feel like you were entirely comfortable in the voice, so some of the more subtle lines came out a bit awkward. Sometimes it sounded like you were intentionally deepening your tone (which is probably what you were doing), but weren't making it sound natural.

Majinboo/Dominikov - First of all YOUR MIXING IS GODLY. The mixing was FAAAANTASTIC. Second, your performance was great too! Really, I felt that your voice was a really nice fit for the character and that your deliveries were really all spot on! Nice job!

Pete/Hokage Titan - Nice job with a deep character voice like that! Although Pete's supposed to be a little robotic, I felt a few of the lines lacked the inflection they needed (they came out very dry). But those were few and far between - on the whole I think you did a great job!

King/BladeBlur - This is a tough voice to pull off, especially for a young actor (which you probably are). And for your range, you did a great job! This is a tough role to be casted into, especially when you're not vocally suited age-wise, but you did a great job with delivery and acting!

Captain Ronaldo/Animated93 - A relatively short performance, but nicely done!

Alita/Emmy Doll - Ack, umm...well, there were a few lines were I definitely sounded more nasally than I thought. @_@;; Guess I need to inhale hot tea before I go to the mic.

XxLittlexGurlxX/ Ana and Yuna - A great performance as both characters, especially Ana (I think she's the nasty one). Those are hard voices to pull off, but you did a great job with both!

DragonKnighttara/Cecilia - A relatively short performance, but I really loved the voice you chose. It fit the character perfectly. Your deliveries were also spot on!

Jodo/Lionfayt - Your Jodo was FANTASTIC! Way to pull off an awesome old man's voice! I really thought this was a nearly perfect performance. You did a fantastic job. As for your various other roles (Akamashi and the Narrator) both were spot on as well! You did a really great job with all your roles in this dub.

All the extras were great too! (I'm counting extras as people with fewer than three lines). Each of your performances were short, but were great!

Overall, thanks everyone for helping to make such a great dub! Can't wait for the blooper reel.
