I do want you to sing the English lyrics... it's fine if you learn the Japanese lyrics first (it may help you even), but please sing your actual audition in English.

Are you sure it's "gnaw and taste"? It sounded like "Night and Day" to me... but then "night" is in the next stanza, so that might not work.

I'm reasonably sure that it's "gnaw and taste," though I don't have the original lyric sheet... both the anime lyrics version and several Korean sources (that had the kanji printed up) had it as "gnaw and taste." I can hear a "ss" sount towards the end of 'taste' when listening to the song. Also... gnaw and taste goes better with the rest of the English lyrics for that part... whereas night and day is rather random.
I *did* see a fansub group that transcribed it as "night and day," but fansub groups are almost *always* inaccurate when posting lyrics for songs and make frequent mistakes since they do it by ear.
If you want I can ask Nikki if the lyrics are printed out on the OST booklet and double check for you.

I don't want to hear the music. If there's music I can't really tell how good your mic is.

I do want you to sing while listening to the music though (that's what headphones are for), otherwise you probably won't keep perfect time.
