The VAA strongly discourages “first come first served" casting, (i.e. you will give the part to the first person you hear). Instead, give a deadline, then choose from the selection so it's a fair casting and everyone gets a chance.

For the sake of argument, it does matter. They still have to live and breath like the character to give the parody that "extra punch". And there's those requirements up there. How could you know that they could meet those requirements if they don't let you know how they sound like first with that possibility of someone else being better at the role?

...but, I guess now that the audition lines are about to come up, that argument no longer holds ground...I think.
