Well this was definitely an awesome little clip! It was awesome being a part of it! Now here's a nice little critique! ^^
-----------------
Haruki Emishi / Gan Xingba: You definitely knew you had the voice for Haruki, I knew it the moment I saw you audition for this clip, but I found the first half of your performance to feel a bit off like it took you awhile to get into character, I really liked your performance after your battle attack. You really seemed to nail down Haruki from there.
Juubei Kakei / Dusk-Requiem: I know your a replacement for the original VA for this part but none the less I felt you really got a hold of Juubei's character, cold and calm. Not the msot difficult personality but there's not much more to Juubei. I really can't think of any problems and you were definitely a stand-out to me in this clip. Good job.
Shidou Fuyuki / MightyMouse: The first line you said really me threw me off, the line "I don't think so!", it seemed forced and a little unnatural and I was worried for a sec that's how you would sound like for Shidou, luckily I was wrong. I found your voice very fitting for Shidou but I felt at times you sped up at times (Similar to the English VA) and I at times barely caught things instead, otherwise besides that I really did like your performance.
Mixing / Sakasa Jin'ei: Awesome job with the mixing Sakasa! It felt (To me) like the actual dub to sense. There's nothing that I felt really needs to be nitpick. So great job!
Self Critique: I'm terrible at critiquing myself, but there were moments felt I wasn't on par with the other actors but I also felt I nailed a couple of these lines. Like I felt like my inner monologue at the beginning was good but I felt I could've sounded a bit more shock when confronting Emishi and especially Juubei. But this was definitely really fun for me to record for, I really do love playing Kazuki.
Overall: This was really awesome and quite frankly I just watched it so many times, it really was a fun clip. It was mixed well and it has a great cast. But it was great working with you Sakasa, you are definitely an awesome producer and I love mostly everything you produce! I can't recall if you were going to do another clip with these four but I would really want to do more!
Eh not a real fan of getbackers but I'll give this a shot.
Haruki Emishi - Sounds pretty good, but seemed out of character at times (especially for the first few lines of dialogue). His attacks could use a bit more oomph to them. Overall I think the main problem is he really didn't get into character enough so he just didn't stand out enough.
Shidou Fuyuki - Er sounds a bit monotoned and unnatural when talking. It seemed like he put most of his energy into having a cool voice but didn't leave much for anywhere else. Also a few of his lines he lost his tone at the end and he dropped in volume. The last line was very awkward "Why we are the four kings" as well. Basically his dialogue flow needs work. But still, he has a really cool voice.
Juubei Kakei - Same problems as Shidou, His dialogue just didn't seem to flow very well and he seemed uncomfortable with the character. This was especially present when he did his battle yell. While the yell was decent, he didn't even sound remotely like his character (he sounded like a young teenager). Try to keep it consistent as it becomes a bit jarring. Anyway like Shidou I thought he had a cool and fitting voice still and thought he captured some of the characters calm nature so good job with that.
Kazuki Fuuchouin- Hmm he sounds ok at times but when his tone fluctuates it seemed like he was uncomfortable with his character. His battle grunts were pretty good and not overexaggerated so I thought he did a good job there. The wierdest line was "you too juubei Kakei" I'm not sure why it came out like it did but it just seemed awkward to me. Overall I thought he did the best job though because he seemed the most in character.
I thought this came out nicely. The mixing was pretty much perfect. Having heard the real clips so much while doing my lines, I didn't really find much of a difference between these effects/music and the real deal. That definitely helps. Acting wise it seemed quite stellar as well, particularly Dusk as Juubei (a natural fit for him, really).
I'm still very much getting used to this whole fandub thing, but this was a good experience and I feel like I learned a lot from it. Hopefully that means I'll be able to do a little better in the next clip.![]()
Absolutely stellar! Once again Sakasa you have produced a great clip. I really enjoyed listening to Gan's performance of Haruki this time around, he's really became Haruki in my eyes. I must give x credit as well, for hopping onto the role this late in the game but compared to MightyMouse's I felt this voice was a little bit forced. Mixing was great for the most part but I felt some of the battle sounds didn't seem all to fitting but overall this was a great clip. Can't wait for the next one! =D
Aw, shucks.
I can’t speak for myself, but I felt X, Dusk, and Count all gave solid performances, and the mixing was stellar as usual. The audio levels were just right, I feel. Yeah, some of the sound effects weren’t 100% authentic, but proper sound effects for something like a whip are hard to find, so that's very understandable.
But yeah, very nice to see this clip up. I remember how much fun it was recording for this. Man I miss free time…
