Everyone wants power. No one wants the responsibility that comes with power. Unfortunately, power and responsibility come hand in hand. It is impossible to have one without the other.


Power may be anything, regardless of your income level or social status. It may be someone's life. It may be a business. A car. A pet. Inanimate objects. You have power over everything in your life, and you must take the responsibility.


If you don't, the consequences will haunt you.


Many stories follow the theme of power and responsibility. No story personifies the theme as clearly and effectively as the story of Peter Parker, a young man who suddenly becomes sanctioned with gifts beyond human ability. Like all teenagers who happen upon power, he doesn't want to be accountable. Too late, he learns that accountability is just as important, if not more so, than the power he has received.

And now, he has begun applying his responsibility as an empowered individual. This is the story of his journey, of an ordinary person taking up the mantle of hero, in a city clogged with great supremacy invested in only a few. The power of people like Peter hasn't removed crime from the streets, or stopped corruption. And now, one corrupt individual with infinite resources works from the shadows to perfect a formula to give him ultimate power forever.

And one young man, gifted with the powers of a spider, may be the only person who can stand in the way. Because he has learned a power that all humans have and many choose to ignore: the power of responsibility.

This is the evolution of a boy into a man.

A man into a hero.

A hero into Spider-Man.

Age: 17

Description: Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is just starting out on this "hero thing", and is learning that trying to live up to the responsibilities that have come with his power is much harder than expected. After all, he is not the strongest superhero, nor the fastest. He cannot even fly. His mobility comes from web fluid he has to make himself, and it’s very expensive. As a result, he has to pay a lot of dues to be Spider-Man. It is not helped that because of his refusal to join any cliques he is mostly a loner. He is looking for work in order to help the Parker finances. In addition to school and superhero work, Peter is most certainly a busy young man. However, his life is about to get even more complicated than he ever thought possible . . .

Age: 52

Description: A person who soon becomes Peter's only living blood relative, Aunt May is a stern yet kind woman who has a surprising amount of energy left in her still. She is suspicious of Peter's recent behavior and cannot chalk it up just to "teenage angst". Aunt May is determined to find out what's up with Peter ASAP . . .

Felicia Hardy (officially Felicia Parker)
Age: 14

Description: A young girl who has lived in virtually every income level. Borne into great wealth, her father was murdered by a crime lord and her fortune thieved from her, and she was barely able to survive on the streets long enough to be taken in and eventually adopted. Felicia is introverted and shy to people she doesn't know but the few people who truly know her see a determined and stubborn girl. Felicia wants to become stronger in order to take back her fortune . . .

Harry Osborn
Age: 17

Description: A frenemy of Peter, who gives Peter mild protection from the bullying antics of Flash Thompson and Kong in exchange for Peter doing Harry's homework. He is not necessarily a bad person, but he is intelligent and manipulative and a decent, but not spectacular, athlete. He is currently dating the most beautiful girl in the junior class: Mary Jane Watson. By all accounts he's a lucky guy. The few who get a glimpse into his private life find a guy who is thought of as an incompetent and complete disappointment by his father . . . .

Gwen Stacy
Age: 17

Description: Like Peter, Gwen fits into no clique, and thus is mostly a loner like Peter is. She is quite smart, though her academic specialties lie in the ways of English and writing rather than math and science like Peter. She likes Peter a lot but can't bring herself to spit the words out. She has a sense of honor imbued in her thanks to her father, an "untouchable" police captain. Gwen slowly begins to notice that something is seriously up with Peter . . .

Mary Jane Watson
Age: 17

Description: The popular girl who doesn't want to be one. Mary Jane is considered by many to be the most beautiful girl in the school period. Wealthy and gorgeous, Mary Jane seems to be a confident and flirty girl. However, her social status is really all she has. With her parents on the verge of divorce, and her father threatening to walk out with all of the money, MJ hides an ever-growing depression. She has taken a lot of verbal and physical abuse the last few years. Despite her desire to stop the rampant social cliques tearing through the school her fear of losing her social status terrifies her to no end . . .

Age: 17

Description: Quite possibly the overall smartest student in school, Debra is capable of passing college at her age, but to reasons unknown even to herself, she has refused all opportunities to skip a grade. In reality, her friendships with Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker are more valuable than becoming a recognized prodigy. She is fairly geeky and a decent friend, and quickly becomes well-aware that Peter's suspicious behavior started around the rise of Spider-Man . . .

Description: An elite SHIELD agent with a powerful alter-ego, Jennifer is sent to keep watch over Peter Parker by going undercover as a teacher. She has reluctantly accepted the mission from Nick Fury, and has managed to be a decent, if unusually frank, teacher as well as keeping her alter-ego a secret. Jennifer's mission has many layers, one of which is to ensure Peter's safety and to assist him if necessary, but her mission also has a darker undercurrent: If Peter Parker snaps, it is her job to stop him by any means necessary before he causes any damage . . .

Description: The ultimate crime lord. As Wilson Fisk he must pretend to loathe crime and hosts lavish parties and by all means seems to be a legitimate businessman, owning e large variety of companies from tech companies to a regional pizza chain that is rapidly expanding. If he was interested in just being legitimate he would have already been set up for life. But Wilson Fisk is the Kingpin, who controls nearly all of the organized crime in New York City, and runs many illegal operations that put even more money in his pocket. Fisk is intelligent and strong, and thinks he's untouchable. And now he has designs on becoming permanently untouchable . . .

Alastair Smythe
Age: 27

Description: Kingpin's would-be successor and closest advisor. Alastair is a genius with machinery and he is always making new things to help slay Kingpin's enemies and put Kingpin's many businesses far ahead of the competition. At the same time, despite his competency, Alastair has designs on taking over Kingpin's empire if Wilson Fisk does not step down willingly. Ruthlessly ambitious and smart, Alastair is one of the worst enemies you could ever get, only behind the Kingpin himself . . .

Norman Osborn (Green Goblin)
Age: 44

Description: The founder and C.E.O. of Osborn Industries (informally "Oscorp"), Norman Osborn's company has come a long way since he started in at the start of a tech boom, with contacts ranging from world governments all the way to the Kingpin. Osborn has recently been acquired by the Kingpin in a multi-billion dollar sale, and Norman's beginning to regret it, as his experiments have slowed to a crawl. The Kingpin wants more progress, and Norman is getting desperate on acquiring results. This rashness will lead to an accident that will create the Green Goblin . . .

Age: 20

Description: An older brother figure to Peter, Eddie now attends Empire State University in downtown NYC. He is perhaps Peter's only male friend. However, he soon discovers that Peter is Spider-Man, which makes him jealous to no end and he soon begins desiring Peter's power . . .

Age: 33

Description: A brilliant scientist under Norman Osborn's employ, Otto Octavius has been responsible for many of Osborn Industries' successes in the last decade. And, as Norman's latest project has begun struggling, Otto has been assigned to fix the problem and fast. Otto Octavius uses an innovative piece of machinery to help him achieve his experiments, but when something goes wrong . . .

Description: An Osborn Industries employee who was too close to an experiment that went out of control. Now he lives in perpetual pain, and largely being unable to control the massive amounts of electricity stored in him. This electricity is not without its perks as it affords him the ability to fly and shoots colossal electric bolts, but the pain makes these powers almost not worth it. Almost . . .

Quentin Beck (Mysterio)
Age: 26

Description: A formally idealistic special effects guy in Hollywood, his inability to find consistent work has left him drifting and committing crime to make ends meet. He uses knowledge gleaned from Hollywood to foster illusions and imagery to fool opponents. However, despite his intelligence and special effects mastery, Mysterio isn't that physically imposing, and thus the prospect of physical combat makes him just a little bit nervous . . .

Alexander O'Hirn (Rhino)
Age: 34

Description: A big thug who is currently stuck in a armored rhino suit provided by an unknown benefactor. Rhino lives to cause chaos. A match for the Hulk in sheer strength, Rhino can knock down whole buildings in a single thrust. His flaw, though, is below-average intelligence which makes him easily fooled by opponents. Rhino soon becomes obsessed with fighting Spidey, which isn't exactly a good thing as somebody else always gets in the way, making Rhino's efforts exercises in futility . . .

Matt Murdock (Daredevil)
Age: 26

Description: Blinded as a child, Matt Murdock developed superhuman perception, which has enhanced all of his other senses. Thus, he can see without really seeing, and is something of a human lie detector. Coupled with superb physical prowess, Daredevil is something to be feared by the criminals he hunts. His primary target, however, is none other than Wilson Fisk. Daredevil watches over Peter carefully, seeing if Spider-Man has what it takes to become a potential ally against the Kingpin . . .

Age: 43

Description: The captain of the Manhattan precinct, George Stacy is an honorable man and a good police officer. He is famously "untouchable", and he always refuses to cut deals with the criminals he captures. He is becoming worried, though, as the more he uncovers, the more he knows he is attracting the Kingpin's attention. How far is Captain Stacy willing to stick his neck out in order to clean up his beloved city? Not even Stacy himself knows . . .

Jeanne DeWolfe
Age: 33

Description: The second-in-command to Stacy, DeWolfe is an accomplished officer flying through the ranks, and is notably friendlier to superheroes than Stacy. DeWolfe is an efficient organizer, a good shot, and has a legendary deadpan. However, despite generally seeming to be a good person, rumors swirl of her being crooked and in coattails with none other than the Kingpin. So far, these allegations remain unfounded . . .

Age: 44

Description: The editor-in-chief and the publisher of the Daily Bugle, J.J.J. loves sensational news and finds Spider-Man a rather enticing person to write about. Unfortunately for Spider-Man, J.J.J. thinks Spidey is a criminal who must be unmasked and arrested as soon as possible. Knowing full well his circulation is collapsing, J.J.J. is willing to do anything to sell more newspapers. Just what anything means, even he doesn't know, but he feels it will lead to the webbed menace being found and stopped . . .

Betty Brant
Age: 23

Description: J.J.J.'s secretary. Despite J.J.J.'s title, Betty is really the person who runs the paper, by keeping everyone organized and mollifying anyone who has a beef with J.J.J. Betty is something of a anomaly for her age, as she is more interested in traditional media than "new media", and is determined to keep the Daily Bugle relevant in an era where print is slowly being strangled by the likes of the Internet. However, how much can she improve the paper's fortunes with J.J.J. around remains unknown . . .

Robbie Robertson
Age: 43

Description: J.J.J.'s lifelong friend and a longtime employee of the Bugle, Robertson is considered by the Bugle staff to be more capable of running the paper than J.J.J. Only his loyalty to his friend prevents an overthrow. Robbie is a hard and capable worker and he apprentices Peter somewhat when Peter joins the paper. Robbie also lacks J.J.J.'s hostility towards Spider-Man, but currently he doesn't want to speak out about it. That may change in the future . . .

Age: 31

Description: The Bugle's star reporter who covers all of the major occurrences in the local New York area, Ben despises being increasingly specialized to the "costumes". All he wants is hard news and breakthrough stories, not covering people in colorful getups running around. His dissatisfaction towards his job is growing to the point where he wants to toss J.J.J. off the paper and his wanted mutiny is barely being restrained by Robbie. Ben has no intentions of being restrained for long . . .
