    Producers Notes:

Well here it is at long last! My first FanDub, the Hellsing Ultimate OVA 1: FanDub. After 3 months of planning, writing, auditioning, casting, mixing, and fixing; I've finally got it completed. Though, this dub wouldn't be a quarter of what it is without my WONDERFUL cast! You guys made this thing, and I seriously didn't expect to have such talent aboard my project! Every single one of you guys are heroes in my eyes, for giving up your time to help me!

But lord, this project was difficult. This is the first time I've mixed a dub, and boy it felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew. With 50 minutes of complex mixing, the only thing that I had to edit with was Windows Movie Maker. Argh, there were times I wanted scream because of the frustration

But now, it's finally made! And I feel like I've learned quite a bit. Now all I want to do is relax for awhile.

Enjoy the dub! And yes, I do plan on mixing 0VA 2 sometime down the road

I finally finished watching all the parts, and I must say I really really really enjoyed this! <3 I'll be sure to post a more indepth critique/comment as soon as I have the time to go back and rewatch it. X3 I will say the mixing was very impressive for not only your first fandub, but for using the hellish Windows Movie Maker. The cast was a treat to listen to and this was also a blast to be in, so thank you for having me! <3 ^o^ Hopefully I'll get my critique written out in the next day or so. 8D

Just got finished watching all the parts! I agree with Shudo, and while I shouldn't be too excited, (since all I did was a grunt noise and a one liner) I was very happy to be apart of your project, and my very first one to boot. I pretty much geeked out over all the voices *just love your Seras voice Shudo-Ranmaru and Ovarku's Alucard* I did learn something about my vocie though...I need to get better recording gear, though idk where to go for such >.>. Not sure what to say about the video besides that some sound effects were a bit off but not enough to make me irritated. You did a very good job for your first attmept at a fandub.

Anyway I just want to thank you so much for letting me be apart of this and I look forward to trying out future roles for you. ^_^

Now where are the directions to the cast party?

Thank you! Yes, it was indeed a nightmare using Windows Movie Maker
But you get what you pay for, and in this case...it's free.
I'm glad for having you on board aswell! You really did an excellent job as Seras, I can't imagine using anyone else to play her.

And I very much look forward to the in depth critique!

You still did a good job! The mic quality was low, but you can easily find a cheap one up at Radio Shack or someplace that works alot better!
And yes, some of the sound effects were off, but I didn't realize how hard it would be to find any quality free SFX

Anyway, I hope to have you audition in future projects! And the cast party will be held on a cruise ship to Hawaii!

Oh, sweet! I'll reserve this for comments once I get a strong enough connection to watch it all.

Oh... and I shall cross my fingers and hope for a dub of the second OVA.

Righty-dokey, where do I start? I commend your bravery for using Windows Movie Maker, quite frankly you're either the most courageous editor I've ever met or simply the most insane. Taking this into consideration, the music and sound effects were good, though you need to work on levels, sometimes voices were hard to make out and sometimes they were loud enough to actually hurt my ears. I am now sitting here with one eyeball exploded after hearing a certain laugh. There were some sync issues, mainly with footsteps. I know good editing programmes are expensive but it might be wise to invest in one once you're able too. You could have taken the opportunity to improve on the existing script (the "bollocks," just feels like gratuitous profanity to be honest and sometimes the characters are doing nothing but stating the obvious).
    • Ovarku - I never understood why everyone is happy to hear Alucard with an American accent, taking into account who he actually is, however I can't personally fault you. You had the tone and emotion down well, and your version can sound equally smooth and monstrous, an undead Billy Idol.
    • Fairuza - The voice was appropriate, and you captured Integra's snide professionalism well, but you weren't very consistent with your accent or pronunciation, I often heard you overusing soft letters when you should have been using hard, for example the way you used a and the American method of new (noo) when you wanted the British method (nyu).
    • Shudo-Ranmaru - The emotion was great, though perhaps in scenes of struggling you used too much energy. When Seras is stabbed full of the holy bayonets it would have been more convincing if the sounds were quiet and more forced, as if you can't draw enough air into your lungs. Once again I have to fault the accent (this is something of a recurring element with me because bad accents can really spoil an otherwise good performance), you seemed to be skipping between pseudo-Cockney and borderline Australian.

(I'd suggest looking up the Cheddar region. In Hirano's poorly researched world, it's in the North, but in real life it's in the South, so try looking up those accents more - this warning applies to The Kinda Mad as well since he's in charge of this project.)
    • Smyling_Beast - The accent was good, it wasn't too strong or too soft, and I liked the way you could go from the kindly priest to the blade-wielding lunatic so effectively while remaining convincing.
    • Sarifus - To be honest I don't you think you had enough dialogue for me to make a really in-depth analysis, but you seem to be on the right track, capturing Walter's calm professionalism and no problems with the accent so far. If you stay on for O.V.A. 2 then it'll give you a better chance to display how well you play this character.
    • Art_of_camelot - The voices were suited well to the characters, though you slipped on occassion with the Bureaucrat and you could have sounded more surprised or taunting after Integra tells you about vampires. Can't complain about Sir Arthur Hellsing, you did that very well. I don't know what an authentic Italian sounds like so I won't go into that with Father Ronaldo, but I like the professionalism in your tone, though when he's swinging his hands for emphasis at the end of the conversation with Anderson a little more intensity would not go unpunished.
    • Slowolf88 - Good voice, you sounded appropriately malevolent. Once again my only nitpick with this character is a script issue, specifically the use of the German word, "Fraulein." I know Abraham van Helsing was a Dutchman, and while I have no idea if they use that term over there, this branch of the family seem to be British born-and-bred, so that word is quite out-of-place.
    • skullgrin140 - Not much to say. Pronunciation slipped here and there but the voices worked for the characters.
    • Kore Thanatos - Voice was good, accent sounded solid, could have used some more grunting or panting sounds when she's running around, maybe ad-lib her calling out to Leaf while he's investigating the door.
    • Hobie - Not much to say. I'm sorry you got the unneccessary swearing I mentioned earlier, but at least you said it right. The official dub's use of, "boll-icks," just screams, "I am putting it on and not doing a very good job!" So you did better than the official actor and that's something to be proud of.
    • The Kinda Mad - The Vampire Priest was okay, the voice was good and you captured his maniacal nature, though you slipped on the accent here and there. Same goes for the Major, fittingly foreboding/foreshadowing, but you stressed the v's too much, it should sound more like he means to say the word in English but his native dialect affects it enough to come out as it does, that being said, it seemed strange you made a point of the v's and yet you used, "and," instead of, "unt."

To summarise, nice job for your first dub, certainly better than my own earliest attempts, though there is of course room for improvement and don't be scared to add your own twists here and there to make it a little more unique. There's not much fun if you stick completely to the official script, or even translations (we all know how structurally "correct," that can be, ha-ha-ha).

Thanks for taking the time to give me a critique. When I went to watch the OVA, (This is the only OVA I don't own so far) the officer did sound like he was saying it just to say it and it seems like it was goofy. So I did it the way I thought would be an appropriate emotion so I'm glad I got that idea down.

I hope that's a bad thing, otherwise I might have to sing White Wedding in Alucard's voice xD

And Ravenstone, thank you so much for the deep critique! Now let's see...

I commend your bravery for using Windows Movie Maker, quite frankly you're either the most courageous editor I've ever met or simply the most insane.
Or both But yeah, that's all I had. And all the other free editors were just as bad if not worse.

Yes, I had a miserable time with leveling everything. WMM only has one audio track, so I had to layer each sound one at a time, and this in turn, really screws with the leveling.

And you're right, I really need to invest in a real video editing program. I can't tell you, how much easier things would be with multi audio tracks.

BTW, was that curtain laugh my crazily evil molesting priest laugh XD?

You could have taken the opportunity to improve on the existing script (the "bollocks," just feels like gratuitous profanity to be honest and sometimes the characters are doing nothing but stating the obvious).
A few words were changed here and there, but nothing dramatic. But honestly, I don't have enough script writing experience to completely rewrite this thing and have it sync properly.

The Kinda Mad - The Vampire Priest was okay, the voice was good and you captured his maniacal nature, though you slipped on the accent here and there.
I recorded The Major's line awhile back, not like that's an excuse, but I've since been working hard to further develop his voice

Thank you so much for your very deep critique and advice! I'll certainly take in your words, along with everyone else's, so I can continue to grow as a filmmaker.

    BTW, as for your lines:
You did well with your lines, my only problem was the quality. There seemed to be a constant ring through out. But other than that, you did good!

I hope that's a bad thing, otherwise I might have to sing White Wedding in Alucard's voice xD

    <_<

    >_>

    *Patent pends idea*
That sir, would be sexy. But honestly, you knocked it WAAAAAY out of the ball park with Alucard's voice. I was wondering for awhile if I was talking with Crispin Freeman XD
