Recently read this book in my English III class. One of the best I've ever come across. The beginning was kinda ehh for me, but it got better & captivating real quick. And the ending, it was so great and unexpected. I recommend this for anyone looking for a good romance novel. Anyone else here ever had the pleasure of reading this? The main character, an African American woman in her early forties named Janie Crawford, tells the story of her life and journey via an extended flashback to her best friend, Pheoby, so that Pheoby can tell Janie's story to the nosy community on her behalf . Her life has three major periods corresponding to her marriages to three very different men.
