Microphone Help 2

Okay, so I got a new mic and I plugged it in. I can get sound out of it if I move it, but I can't get my voice to record. Can someone help me fix my problem?

Um, I was sort of looking for the manufacturer and model number The fact that it stands is interesting, but not of much help.

What OS are you using?

OS = "operating system." Are you using Windows XP, Vista...?

Are there any markings on the mic that would identify it? Any writing at all?

I have windows XP and the number is 1170

The thing that would tell you the kind of mic, possibly, and also even potentially solve your problem is:

1.plug in the mic
2. start up audacity (you must do this after putting the mic in, not before)
3. on the menu on the top left, click on Edit > Preferences
There's a menu with three green boxes.
Click on the arrow to the right of the middle one. It should give you a choice of microphones (one of which is the microphone you're using). See if that works. If it doesn't, at least you'll know what the microphone is to write here!

I did that as well, and it said Sb live!

That's your sound card. Can you describe the microphone? Does it plug into a USB port? The computer's microphone jack? Did the microphone come with packaging and instructions that could provide more information?
