At the time, it was pretty impressive to me ._.
But the videogames nowadays definitely out-awesome them. That much I agree.^^

I played every FF game up to FF X-2.... havent beat one... i just procrastinate...
Random battles annoy me to know end... every other step, i have to fight some crazy monsters who somehow is able to hold items and carry change purses with them.
Wish me luck to beat them. This topic has inspired me to do so for the time being.

The random battles really annoy the crap out of me, too. But, what can ya do? That's the only way to level up. n.n What I do is play the game for a li'l bit, see some major story points, and then fight a LOT of random battles until I get bored, then I quit playing for the day/week/month/year, and go back to it later. Then, I won't mind fighting more battles because I'll be refreshed!Originally Posted by haku2pure

Though it was more annoying as I got into the later parts of the story, since I just wanted to get on with it rather than fighting endless beasts. Apparantly, I was supposed to have "No Encouter" or something to that effect, equipped by then, lol.
But I will admit I enjoyed random battles if I had just managed to get the appropriate sphere levels to activate a new skill, and was trying out said skill -- eg, fira (which I got by going up and down Mi'ihen road several dozen times, lol.) ^____^

* : finished
FF1*: Not bad for a desperate move from bankruptcy. I played both the NES (emulator)and PS1 versions, and I'm impressed by the overhaul for the PS1. Great remixes (though there are some tracks that I didn't like), SNES-quality graphics (mind you, I'm not graphics-conscious), and simple yet tried-and-true gameplay (you no longer whiff at thin air when the enemy's dead!). I recently made a Filipino-language translation for the NES version as a school project. How's that?
FF2*: Also played both the NES (emulator) and PS1 versions. Same impressions for FF1. And by the way, I own the FF1&2 OST because of the remixes!
FF3*: That's where the benevolent job system finally made its place here. Best graphics for the NES. And I don't wanna bother about the DS version, cause I want a PS2 version! Wake up, Square Enix!
FF4*: I played both the SNES (emulator) and PS1 versions. The PS1 version is somewhat superior because of the developers' room and overhauled dialogues (who would forget "You spoony bard!").
FF5*: I played both the SNES (emulator) and PS1 versions. This is where the job system is as its finest. Customizations galore!
FF6*: I played both the SNES (emulator) and PS1 versions. Second most favorite FF. It's truly epic in every sense of the word.
FF7*: Cloud x Aeris forever!Gameplay is a bit frantic, but still good (never beat the Emerald and Ruby Weapons, and never got the Knights of the Round
)
FF8*: Big success, big failure. Success because of the graphics and FMVs, failure because of plot inconsistencies and GF-dependent fighting.
FF9*: My most favorite FF. The graphics shine the best (though a bit on the SD side), the gameplay is old-school goodness, the story is heart-warming, and Nobuo Uematsu has shown his best (too bad he left Square Enix recently).
FF10: Same impressions as FF6, but with the addition of voice acting. So far, the VA's OK according to my standards.
FF10-2*: Bit of a letdown. In the job system department, why there are no geomancers, dragoons, and ninjas? In the story, is Yuna's decision to become a pop star reason enough?
FF11: Never played. Please, [insert Philippine online gaming company here], release FF11!
FFT*: Gameplay is great. Customization is there again. First exposure to strategy-RPG's.
FFTA: Same impressions as FFT. The Judges are limiting my possibilities and freedom to do anything!![]()
FF Mystic Quest*: For beginners only. Period.
FF Crystal Chronicles: Never played. I don't wanna buy a GameCube and GBA for this ALONE.
MY GOD THATS TOTALLY ME <_<Originally Posted by Akerin
I would like the battle systems to be a little more like CT or SO as in you see the enemy on the map, its alot less frustrating

FFVII rocks, let's just leave it at that. It's everyone's favorite and it probably will continue to be everyone's favorite. It had the best storyline ever and all the characters had their own unique part in the story. Sorry, I just had to point that out. Somebody had to... ^^;
Well, here are some other thoughts... I think things have gone downhill for the FF series since FFIX... even though FFX had tons of cool graphics and cut-scenes and stuff for some reason it just wasn't as good as the rest. I actually haven't played FFX-2... but by the looks of it I think I'll stand by my theory for a little while...
