Hi, I’d like to introduce myself as I am new to this voice acting community! I am an experienced amateur stage actress from the UK, but I'm taking a break from that at present. I did a voice-over for a short film last year which went really well. I enjoyed the experience very much, but being a bit of a perfectionist, I felt I could have done better. So what better way to get practice than to try out for VA roles on this forum?!

I’ve just set up my studio, such as it is! My next step will be to have a voice demo reel made, which I will do as soon as I get over a nasty cold!

As for my voice, I am wlorking on, but not yet great at accents, so at the moment I will stick to parts for which a British accent is either required or at least suitable! But I have a reasonable vocal range, and so plan to try out for a variety of ages and character types.

I must also confess to knowing very little about anime, but seeing the number of interesting projects relating to anime means that I intend to educate myself by watching anime and learning to pronounce Japanese names! (I hope potential directors/producers will be entertained not insulted by any pathetic early attempts at this I may make! )

Most of all I look forward to working with some interesting and creative people while at the same time improving my own acting skills.

    Cheers

    Kyriane

Don't worry, little one, i'm sure we can help your vocal capabilities as soon as we can hear you, even though I'm an amatuer at this myself, but you acting ability we might not able to help so much since you seem to have that one basic in this industry down . And there's nothing really wrong with being a perfectionist, we all have doubts at the start of what we're doing, but as we go on, I'm sure the doubts will go away.

So welcome aboard, and I hope you find VA extremely satisfying.
If you're gonna break the rules, be brilliant...otherwise don't break the rules

Hello there, welcome to the VAA! There's plenty of room here for you whether you're little or big. xD

It's awesome that you've had the experience you've had with stage acting and VAing - it'll certainly help you here and the experience you get here will also hopefully help you out in turn, as you say! =) Also, if anime isn't your thing, there are also a lot of very good original and other non-anime projects here, and they could always use support.

So anyway, again, welcome to the boards and all the best for your VAing work!
There. I feel better now that I have shared my secret with millions of people whom I will never meet and who won't recognise me on the street and snigger at me.

Thanks, for the welcome! I have started playing with my new equipment and it is already evident that it is not a simple matter to transfer stage acting ability to voice acting! Even the one VA project I did I had an audience of three people, which helped. It is very odd acting to a microphone.... I hope I get the hang of it! Really annoying at the moment - my cold is gone but I still have that irritating "buh" in the back of my voice, which shows up clear as day on a voice recording, and is mucking up all my audition takes! Grrrr. Must destroy cold germs....

Hey Welcome to VAA. Being mostly comfortable with stage acting myself and then trying to do voice acting is a big change. I'm sure you will get all the practice you need here though. There are a lot of original projects on the boards here not connected to anime, and I'm sure many producers will understand if you mispronounce names.

I hope your cold germs are annihalated soon! You seem like a very interesting person already~ Welcome to the VAA! I'm sure you'll find it's a wonderful community so long as the rules are followed. ^^ We're happy to have you here, and I hope to hear you soon!

Also, there are plenty of non-Anime productions, as it has been stated. I'm a radioplay-type person myself! Good luck with everything!
