In loyalty to what seems to be a Neko Punch tradition, we proudly present the next series of clips we're working out for your enjoyment. We present Nodame Cantabile, a zany love story about the prolific, but arrogant conducting student Shinichi Chiaki and the eccentric yet brilliant pianist Megumi "Nodame" Noda. Full of hilarious moments and sweet sentimentality, this is an excellent series that has recently started its second season on the Noitamina block. Fueled with excitement for new adventures for our favorite "couple," Rashinban and I are really pleased to get this ball rolling.

Current Cast: (for future and upcoming clips)

    Shinichi Chiaki: Rashinban
    Megumi "Nodame" Noda: Mippa
    Ryutarou Mine: BWoods
    Masami Okuyama: Lucien
    Maestro Franz von Stresemann: Lioncourt
    Kouzou Etoh ("Harisen-sensei")/Cab Driver/Waiter/Nodame's Father: Tenken2007
    Franck Latoine: Shintarou Inazuka
    Makiko Tanaka: Mochan
    Keiko Miyushi: ChristineMC

    (...further castlist pending)

    Mixing By: Rashinban
    Scripting By: Mippa

    Clip 5: ....?

Production Notes: This is actually Rashinban's first clip he has ever mixed, and I dunno about you, but I am super-impressed! A few more clips are in the works so please keep an eye out!

Personal Notes: Time to send a few critiques~

Chiaki/Rashinban: You already know that I looooove you to death for mixing these clips! You've made such a huge step in your abilities I feel, and this character is just fantastic for you! Beautiful performance, I fear I might resort to fangirl squealing any second now...

Nodame/Mippa: I feel a little uncertain about my performance in this clip, but after getting the go-ahead from two of the biggest Nodame fans I know (Rashinban and Tenken) I decided to let this clip go without my redoing the lines. ^^;;; But I still feel that I nailed the performance much better in the next clip, it was really hard to have Nodame sound ditzy in this rather serious clip.

Cab Driver/Nodame's Father/Tenken2007: Thank you so much for doing these lines for us! I promise it will pay off in future clips! Your father line really shone for me in this one--though your cabbie was good as well. Thank you! <3

All in all, I thought the clip sounded professional. The music was mixed incredibly well and the characters sounded natural (of course, I've never seen a single episode of Nodame, so I wouldn't know for certain). For what it was, I wouldn't mind watching the series if you plan to fandub it.

EDIT FOR SECOND CLIP: Mippa, you ARE multi-talented. being able to act cute, and yet so drunk at the same time. I'm surprised you're not a professional VA yet. Everyone else did a good job too. I'm surprised with the French speaking too. I can't even land that freakin' accent, yet you guys landed it like it was a cakewalk.

EDIT FOR THIRD CLIP: Hmm... I expected that gay guy to have a lisp, but I guess not every single one of them do. Yet another fine job from the people at Neko Punch!

Good lord I SOOOO wish I would have discovered this series when it first came out. Not only is it funny and has a similar comedy style to Honey & Clover (another series I love) but it's also a heavily music inspired. Though I'm not very talented in the ways of performing I can say that I'm a complete lover of music. So naturally I'm totaly immersed in this series despite having only seen three episodes of it thus far (Rashinban, Mippa, and Tenken I will probably be pestering you guys a lot for video if you have it =D)

    Anyway onto the clip.

Editing - The first thing I noticed was how clean and sharp the editing was in this clip. Everything was completely natural and to be completely truthful...I wasn't even aware I was watching a fandub until I heard Rashinban's voice (since I've spoken with him before on Skype.) I believe that's evidence of a fantastic editing job and for a first clip, it's rather phenominal. Very impressive.

Rashinban - While I was watching the Japanese episodes I was wondering how exaclty you would approach Chiaki. Your voice is rather smooth and soft in comparison to his powerful and assertive tone. I have to say I'm pretty suprised and pleased with your interpritation with the character. Actually, I think you are very suitable for the role. I'm still intrigued to hear your brashness when he goes off on Nodame, Mine and the others.

Mippa - You know you never cease to suprise me with how well you're able to play characters but are still able to make each one distinguishable. Though we hear your voice so much it never really gets old and that's something I really admire about you're voice acting talents. Your interpritation of Nodame was very familiar, between the original and your version of the character. I really couldn't choose between the two of you, everything felt natural and you managed to capture her ditzy/bubbly attitude while at the same time presenting a pretty vunerable undertone. I can't wait to hear more.

Tenken - You did a good job with your two characters. I LOVED your delievery of the father's line. I laughed, heartfully. (This means something, I'll explain later.) I'm sorry to say I can't really dig any further into your performance, you did a great job. There just isn't much to say. Good work regardless. =D

I'm absolutly stoked to get started on this project, I'm so thankful that you guys 1) Were considering me for a role and 2) Are allowing me to take part. I just hope I won't let you guys down, the standards seem to be set pretty high thus far TAT!!!

I just watched it and I have to say... I am REALLY impressed.

Rashinban: How do you do it, man?! On the editing part, it was clean and... swift. It's like... the show itself as if it's brought over here in North America! On your voice, it was REALLY well done. I am uber impressed.

Mippa: Lovely as always and the scripting was phenomenal.

Tenken2k7: Well done, man! You had me at hello at the end with the dad! REALLY well done on that.

I can't wait to see more of these clips!

I have personally never seen this anime, but after watching this clip, it's really hard not to be interested. The mixing was about as perfect as I have seen in a fandub, and for the first time, I couldn't for the life of me find a flaw in it. Great Job Rashi^^ Now to the actors:

Rashinban: The voice you used was very appropriate, and I found myself really enjoying the overall performance. I don't get to hear you use your deeper range often, and I found it to be a nice change of pace for you. The fact that you could crash flawlessly from drama to comedy in your tone is something to envy for sure.

Mippa: Once again a character that you accent incredibly well through your great emotional delivery. I was particularly impressed by the nervous energy you gave when he hugged her. I hate to make any judges of personality based on one clip, but I do get the impression that she is a complicated character, so I will hold off emotion judgement until I know the character type better. Overall, I thought you did a great job, and look forward to more scenes involving her.

Tenken: You didn't have many lines, but I can still say something, can't I?XD The delivery on the taxi driver was a tad dry, but when I heard your portayal of the father, it made up for it in stride. The line made me chuckle for sureXP Great stuff Tenken.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on these clips when they come out. I like what I hear so far guys^^

Excellent job on this! This really sounded like a professional dub! I can't wait to see (and continue with) more of these!

    REVIEW!!!

Ranshinban - I've heard you many times before, my friend. You have that middling voice that can go low or high that American dubbing companies like Funimation love. You do a great job with acting, your mixing is dead on, and the voice is crystal clear. Gotta love it.

Mippa - You know, gal, I'm gonna run out of original compliments for you if I'm not careful. I've never seen this anime, but the acting fits well, and your voice fits even better. Love it. -looks at everyone else- In my opinion, folks, if anyone should become a pro voice actress/actor, it's this girl right here. As an actress and as a voice artist she is amazing.

Your skills, Mip, are unsurpassed. You and Rash are certainly two treasures of the VAA!
