  1. #1 Chance to Practice?
Hi all! Not a voice acter myself lol - and here's the quick run-down on why. My dad's Danish, my mom's FIlipino, none have english as their first language yet thats what they use as a common form of communication - naturally thats translates into the non authentic, wierd kind of accent I speak english with. Sure, one can learn a bad cockney british accent, or learn to speak like an american, but you almost always have to have one foot in already, so to speak.

Anyways, thats beside the point of this post. I'm here to offer an aspiring voice actor a job with no pay lol - since this is an amater voice acting site, i figure some of you would welcome the opportunity to practice the trade?

So here's the deal. I run a play-by-post roleplaying game (D&D) on a website called rondaksportal.com, where one can embed sound files in one's posts. Im thinking a really nice touch would be to add custom voice acting to these posts. For example, I have a NPC (non-player-character) half-elf girl who is running around with the player characters in a dungeon - to make the game more fun, I've been thinking of possibly adding her comments when entering a new area, or something like that. Give the players a nice interactive experience.

What do ppl think? Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

not at all as a fellow dm myself one of my favorite ways to express what a character is feeling is using a dvd of different animations and battle cries I made myself to show what happens. and that really spices up any campain in general I think you should go through with this idea for the good of the game!

Sounds like a fun idea to me. And don't worry, none of the Americans here can do a decent British accent (hey, somebody prove me wrong!). Don't worry about your accent, if you think about it, it's a fantasy game so accent does't matter (in the Baldur's Gate computer games the mix of accents is completely illogical and nobody seems to mind).

Oh, cool - if people think it might sound fun, it can't be that bad an idea. Yay. So, how to go about it... im thinking the voice acting could just be sent as wave files, with the use of whatever sound recording gear you have. I don't think i need sound studio produced stuff

Contact me if the interest is real, at damc84@walla.com - the voice acting would be for Meldenora, the party's NPC magic user. Here is the latest post from the game, to give people a feel of what exactly it is I mean:

Meldenora gives a nod of affirmation and a wink, and steadily rises to her feet as Susan gathers the lamp that had been giving them illumination up to now. With that in hand, the party is set to venture further down into the darkness. As everyone gets prepared, however, Meldenora chances a sideways glance of concern at Eloquine, her eyes narrowing as she addresses the somewhat disoriented elf. "Are you sure it is but shock, little brother? Let me see those wounds." Given that the half-elf maiden is allowed to, Meldenora exclaims in displeasure at wounds not entirely healed. "By the goddess, why did you not say anything? Here, I have more spells. My own wounds are just as poorly healed, but you are one of our warriors, you need this most." With that, Meldenora does almost the same routine as before, except that her spell has a variation, and that it is repeated no less than three times on Eloquine this time. It is a shorter incantation, and only requires a touch, not the tracing of a pentagram. When the spellweaving finishes, Eloquine feels fully refreshed. Mel gives a warning, however. "That was the last of my spells of that nature. I had forseen the need for plenty of them, but it has evidently not been enough. What remains are sleeping spells and spells to create a dazzling burst of light. You are forewarned, little brother, do not let that happen to you again this day." The last being said with a smirk, Mel gives Eloquine a fond glance. Then all becomes business-like as it appears everyone is ready to set off.

As you venture down the stairs, which have no railing but are easy enough to negotiate at walking speed, you see that there are three switchbacks. Looking out from these landings, you see nothing but darkness, but beginning from the second, the cold breeze brings with it scent of dust and faint trace of rot.

Once at the bottom of the stairs, you see that they empty into a small courtyard, apparantly the top of what was once a crenellated battlement. The buried citadel has sunk so far into the earth that the battlement is now level with the surrounding cavern floor. The floor stretches away to the north and south, and it is apparantly composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbled masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth. To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A tower stands on the west side of the courtyard.
