With some of the series and ideas that come about these days, there's the chance that your project could contain some questionable content. The VAA is a PG13 site and we'd like it to stay that way. We still do allow room for quite a variety of projects though, so don't let that thought stop you. If you feel that your project may contain something that goes little over that line then please contact a member of the staff to determine if it's appropriate to be posted.

Since this has come about we'll be keeping more of an eye on projects to make sure they are sutiable, if we feel something isn't quite appropriate for the site than we will contact you about it.

    ---

Here at the VAA, we strongly discourage the method of “first come first served" casting (i.e. you give the part to the first person you hear who seems to fit the role).
Instead, you'll most likely get more auditions and respect from members if you give a deadline and then choose from the selection you receive. This way it's a fair casting and everyone gets a chance.

    Where do I post?
Audio Productions: Anything which is audio only goes here.

Visual productions: Anything that has any visual aspects to it (manga/comic dubs are visual) should go here.

Please be sure to clearly place the type of production in the title (Example: [Original], [Fandub], [Manga], [Machinima], ect.)

What do I put in my post?

    Description
    *What is your project?
    *What is it about?
    *What are you looking for?
    (Be as specific as possible)

    Characters, voice and lines
    *What Characters are open?
    *What's their personality?
*What should they sound like? How old? What accent?
(Be sure to include sample lines or even a description to give VAs an idea of what they should try when auditioning)

    Deadline
*When are all auditions supposed to be in by?

    Email, format, zip, text file?
*Where should they send auditions to?
*What kind of format would you like them in? How would you like the lines named?
    *Should they zip them?
*Should they include a text file with any other information?

For your convenience we have a template for you to follow:
    =============AUDITION TEMPLATE================

Project information - Type your project info here. Be it a synopsis, an introduction, whatever you want. Be sure to mention any details that may prevent a certain amount of members from auditioning, such as strong language or offensive content.

Audition deadline - If you have a deadline for your project, put this here. Additional information regarding your casting methods should be here too.

Recording and Contact information - THIS IS IMPORTANT. Describe how you would like to receive your auditions and where the voice actors can send it to.

-Record in [example format: 44100hz 16-bit Stereo MP3]
-Save the lines as "charactername_yourname_linenumber.mp3" (ex: tamtu_vaan_01.mp3)
-Send your auditions to [insert email address here, or instant messenger name]

Characters (You can divide this how ever you want. Male/Female/Additional characters is recommend. But use the following format for each character)

    MALES
    Name: Character Name
    Age: Character age
    Bio: Description of the character
Voice type: Describe the voice type. Is he a chain smoker? A hero? A monster? etc. etc.
Audition line 1: First audition line.
Audition line 2: Second audition line.
    (add more if needed)

-You can add more characters if necessary and categorize them in whatever way you wish (be it major, minor, females and males). Add as much information as you like (required accents, amount of lines if you know this, etc.): the more info, the better.

Repeat the deadline + recording/contact info if you want to. If you have any final words to say, add them.

    List of received auditions
Add a list of received auditions if you don't respond to each email, so people know you received their audition. Be sure to update it as often as possible.

Also, if your project is going to contain any strong language, please be sure to be specific and make it known very clearly which characters are going to curse and which ones aren't.

And lastly, as in the main forum rules, there are two different styles on the board. A light style and a dark style. Please take this into consideration when, and if, choosing text colors for which to add in your post. Black/dark text won't be readable by users using the dark layout, and likewise, white/light text won't be readable by users using the light layout. If someone asks you to change your text because they are unable to read it, you should probably comply. If not, then one of the staff members will have to make an appearance.

    Other things to note:

-We only allow one thread per production. This means that if you are casting for characters, songs, ect. and they are all related to the same project please keep it in one thread. We do realize there is a 20,000 character limit set on the board so if you have to, you can use multiple posts in the same thread while making it.

-Please only bump threads once a day. This area gets a high amount of traffic, but in order to let everyone have a fair chance we ask that you keep bumps limited to this.

-No Adult content is allowed here or anywhere on the site. If you're unsure of the content in your project, don't hesitate to contact a member of the staff.
