Some [undisclosed amount] time ago, I started a project for adding spoken dialogue in classic games. My first collaboration with other actors would be Jaleco's own "Lord of King" or "Astyanax" as we know it here.
The plan was to make voiceovers of the in game cutscenes. I doubt the mouth movements matter much and the dialog for the game reads too slow so the placement of the voice clips could be placed early. Sometimes they are placed for effect.
The dialogue was recorded and good to go, but the project faced production hell for a bit. Why? Well a number of reasons. I'll only divulge
the technical ones.
The source video was encoded in H264, which didn't agree much with Windows Movie Maker. I practically gave up on trying to finish the project because of WMM alone and not knowing what other application would be better, fearing similar results.
So I just dissolved into YouTube for a bit, got social and as luck would have it a friend recommends Vegas 7 and hooks me up with the application through um...other means. The application was a whole lot more reliable handling H264 files (it could even encode in other formats), I could EVEN run two Windows of Vegas (necessary for splitting videos, as YouTube would have it)
I'm just glad it's finished, because there were people who waited SO long. Especially the cast, because they deserve to have their work put out there.
