THE ANIME DATING GAME
We're looking for (people to voice) a host and some contestants on the SOS Brigade Network's newest hit game show, and the prize isto get to date an anime character!a role as one of the characters!
Rules and restrictions apply:
1. Auditions are open to all legal residents of Earth, though aliens may also apply.
2. Files must be received in CD-quality MP3 format and should be as free from extra noises, such as the SOS Brigade's other newest show, Who Wants To Search For Aliens, Time Travellers and Espers? playing in the background or sounds like clicks, pops, and cursing the mic out because you got 2/3 of the way through your line and tripped over a word, as possible.
3. Each line should have its separate file, and the preferred format is: ScreenName_CharacterName_Line#. For example, if I were to audition for Yuuri, I would save the first line as: ShintarouInuzuka_Yuuri_1.mp3. Zipping is optional, since Gmail can do it for me, but it must be downloadable so I can hear it offline.
4. Many will enter (I hope), several will get cast.
5.Entries must be received by July 9, 2008.I will be at Anime Expo from the 2nd to the 8th, so it may take a few days to cast this. If necessary, auditions will be extended. They will not be shortened, though, as I dislike the practise of doing so. Send all entries to: kenichi.bokushi at gmail.com, replacing the word "at" with the @ symbol. Due to the fact that I had no Internet access at Anime Expo, nor did I have the chance to listen to, let alone critique, auditions while I was there, the deadline has been extended. The new deadline is July 20, 2008. However, since I have taken so long to give critiques, redos for people who have sent me their initial auditions will be accepted through July 26.
6. I am willing to give critiques; however, my critiques generally leave a lot to be desired, and may not be immediate. You may ask for critiques, but please be patient. If I take too long to give a critique, I'd be glad to grant an extension for the lines (though I won't be able to cast then until the 9th at the earliest).
7. Those of you in my Rurouni Kenshin project do not have to worry, as I have not abandoned that project. I'm still working on it.
8. Odds of winning a role depend on how many audition for that role.
9. Please audition only if you are going to actually send in lines.
10. Please record ALL the lines listed for the character(s) you audition for, each in a separate mp3 file.

YUURI SHIBUYA

A pretty much average high school boy who loves baseball and was thrown into being the King of the Demons during a time when the demons and the humans were at war. He hates war and would rather be friendly towards them and pretty much everyone else. He has a pretty bad temper that manifests itself in various ways, from punching his baseball coach to unleashing "justice" on the bad guys. 15 years old. 25 lines.
HIKARU HITACHIIN (4 auditions)

One of Ouran Host Club's twins, he tends to be the more outspoken and brash of the two. He pretends to be in love with his brother to draw fangirls in. He may be well acquainted with a girl named Haruhi, but he's about to face a different Haruhi. 16 years old. 21 lines.
Voice type: Medium and sorta "outspoken"; see note below
Audition lines:
1. (Explaining the rules of the game) All you gotta do is ask some questions ...
2. (Similar to how Alex Trebek says this on Jeopardy! during Final Jeopardy) Players, you have 30 seconds.
3. (A bit confused) Why are they writing their answers?
4. (Annoyed) We're wasting time here.
5. (SAID TOGETHER WITH KAORU, after being told off) Same to you.
KAORU HITACHIIN (3 auditions)

Hikaru's twin brother. He's the more sensitive, calm of the two, though he still does have a thing for playing tricks on people like his brother does. 16 years old. 20 lines.
Voice type: Medium to medium-low and a bit more calm than Hikaru; see note below
Audition lines:
1. (Continuing from Hikaru's audition line 1) And choose your favourite bachelorette at the end!
2. (Explaining the new rule, after Osaka gave a couple of LONG answers) All responses are now limited to 30 seconds. Ask another question, Yuri.
3. (Asking Yuri for his decision) So, which one will it be?
4. (SAID TOGETHER WITH HIKARU, after being told off) Same to you.
Note: Hikaru and Kaoru have three lines together, and their voices should sound similar. Their last audition lines are identical, and if you want to record the lines with someone else who's auditioning for the other brother, you can; just make sure you both include the line in your auditions. The actors cast as Hikaru and Kaoru may want to work together to time the lines they say together as closely as possible to each other.
KYON (6 auditions)

Just a normal high school boy living a normal high school life until Haruhi came and turned everything upside-down. He's generally sarcastic and serious, and he gets easily annoyed with Haruhi's antics, including her pretty much forcing him to host the show. 16 years old. 17 lines.
Voice type: Somewhat low; should sound mature but sorta annoyed throughout
Audition lines:
1. (Annoyed that Haruhi dragged him into this, and somewhat bored) ...KyonKyon has a super-exciting show to show you all. We have two contestants in line for a happy bachelor and or bachelorette. For our first one, let me introduce to you our three bachelors for contestant number 1.
2. (Same tone as before) Okay, it appears Bachelor #3 has fainted ... so let's go on to the next question.
3. (A bit more frantically) Wake up! We're almost out of time! We've only got time for one more question.
4. (Frustrated, but sorta giving up on the show) Okay ... now that you know who the bachelors are, who do you want to date?
TAMAKI SUOU (4 auditions)

One of the bachelors for Kozue to choose, and a connoisseur of everything fancy. He is extremely rich and popular and very proud of his half-French, half-Japanese heritage. He constantly walks a fine line between sexy and goofy. 17 years old. 8 lines.
Voice type: Low and sorta sexy, but with the capacity to become exceedingly dramatic
Audition lines:
1. (Over-exaggerated, explaining where he'd take Kozue on a date) Only the best for you! I'd bring you to my luxurious mansion, and we'd have a romantic dinner -- home-made -- and then we could take a trip to the beach and have a romantic walk and watch the sunset! It'll be so romantic!
2. (Exaggerated, answering a question about what flower he'd be if he were one) A rose! A rose! A rose!

KIMURA (4 auditions)

Simply put, this guy loves high school girls, and I mean LOVE loves them. That's the only reason why he even became a teacher. So, what better way to end up in an awkward relationship with a high school girl than to win her heart on a game show? I'm guessing he's in his 50s or 60s, roughly. 7 lines.
Voice type: Usually low, but gets pretty high when he starts shouting about his love for high school girls. He would have a middle-aged man's voice.
Audition lines:
1. (Shouting) I LOVE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS!
2. (Nonchalantly) I'd draw you a cat.
3. (Explaining his dream date, starting out with quiet excitement, which becomes loud excitement) We could go to the beach ... and go swimming ... I WANT TO SEE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS IN SWIMSUITS!

He got engaged to Yuri in the first episode, something that Yuuri was never too thrilled about despite the fact that he finds Wolfram absolutely beautiful. He has just about the biggest temper on the face of the Earth and always seems to be angry, especially when Yuuri says something stupid. 82 years old (equivalent to a human 16-year-old). 10 lines.
Voice type: Boyish and constantly angry.
Audition lines:
1. (Voice disguised as a female) I'm Wolf...ina.
2. (Almost letting his identity slip when responding to a stupid question Yuri asks, then covering it up) What kind of stupid question is that ?! It isn't Japanese we speak! -- er, I mean it isn't Japanese THEY speak -- yeah, they! It just resembles Japanese, that's all.
3. (Like audition line 2) I'm your fiance, you moron! ... er, yeah -- we could go to a fancy restaurant.
MILLE FEUILLE (3 auditions)

The leader of the Haz Knights, who protect Big Momma. More importantly, an openly bisexual guy who hits on both men and women shamelessly and would surely cater to the lucky lady's taste for shounen-ai. Probably in his early 20s. 8 lines. His name is rendered in Japanese as ミルフィーユ (Mirufiiyu), so pronunciation would most likely be close to "Mil-fiyu." If anyone who actually knows French can correct me on this if that's not right, please feel free. (Because of this, I'll accept anything close to that during auditions without penalty.)
Voice: High male or low female, shamelessly flirty.

1. (Who he would cosplay as) Cutey Honey. Her costume would look so good on me!
2. (In pursuit ... of Tamaki) Wait, Bachelor #1! Come back! We could watch Gakuen Heaven together ...
3. (A bit on the flambuoyant side) I was thinking ... we could invite some guys over for a slumber party! It'd be so super!

Kozue is the landlady of the Narutaki Villa. She normally is extremely kind, but has a horrible secret: she has disassociative identity disorder, which causes her to occasionally slip into one of four alternate personalities (which explains why I listed five names). 17 years old (personalities act between 6 and mid-20s). 25 lines spread out among the five personalities.
OSAKA (AYUMU KASUGA) (13 auditions)

Fresh out of high school and looking to change the fact that no one in her group has had a boyfriend, Osaka is absolutely random and always has her head floating in the clouds. Hobbies include daydreaming, talking about random things and noticing things that no one else on the show seems to notice. About 17-18 years old, since this takes place after the series had concluded. 6 lines. Pretty much all of her lines are EXTREMELY LONG.
Voice: Medium-low, airy, as if constantly lost in thought. Rattles off monologues as if in a dreamlike state.
Audition lines:
1. (A bit worried, become increasingly more so throughout) You mean this isn't Japan? But Osaka is a city in Japan ... and if there's no Japan, there's no Osaka ... and that means that I don't exist ... and I'm gonna disappear forever ... and then what are my friends gonna do? Sakaki, Yomi, Chiyo-chan, Kagura, Tomo ... they're all gonna be so sad. We won't get to go to Adventure Land together again ... and if there's no Japan, Adventure Land will be gone, too ... and then all of them will have nowhere to go ... and then what'll they all do?
2. (Somewhat airheaded) Fighting people isn't any fun at all. I remember one time I heard that Yomi and Tomo got into a fight because Yomi called into a radio show calling herself "Diet Girl" and asked for diet tips, and then Tomo spent the next half hour laughing at her, and then they started arguing, and then they fought, and she kept laughing, and then she kept getting more and more and more stressed out, and this was even after she didn't get to go to Adventure Land because she was sick ... she was so sad that day ... I hope that she isn't sick next time we're going to Adventure Land ... I know how much she loves the rollercoasters -- (gets cut off by the "time's up" bell)
HARUHI SUZUMIYA (13 auditions)

An extremely hyper girl who transferred to Kyon's school and started bossing him around, even getting him to host this show. She acts as the producer and announcer for this show. She has no interest in normal humans -- only aliens, espers and time travellers, none of which are actually on this show (unless you count Yuri), so why she is bothering with this show is a complete mystery. Runs the "SOS Brigade," a club that basically does random stuff. Actually "over 9000" years old, but takes the form of a girl in her mid teens. 6 lines.
Voice: Medium-high and very energetic with a sorta bossy tone to it.

1. (Bossing Kyon around) Kyon, read the lines like you're supposed to!
2. (Announcing at the end of the show) This is Ultra Director Haruhi Suzumiya speaking for The Dating Game, an SOS Brigade Production.

Generally an upbeat sort of girl, but she can get extremely scary, even psychopathic, at times. She often hangs out at the dump looking for cute things. She often repeats words at the end of her sentences. About 12 years old. 6 lines.
Voice: High and cute, but be prepared to get scary.

1. (Answering where Yuri would take her on a date -- perky) Silly, you're supposed to make that up on your own~! But I like the dump sometimes, 'cause there's new treasures there every day!

A child prodigy, she is the embodiment of everything that is "cute." She graduated high school at a young age, but still remains friends with her classmates as she did throughout high school despite the huge age difference. 13 years old, sounds about 10. One line. I may decide to use the audition line for the production itself, but will give the person cast the option to re-record the line.
Voice: High and the level of sweet and cute that makes her pretty much impossible not to like.
