    Absolutely invaluable advice for anyone considering audio drama producing.

    This goes into great detail, gives practical advice about the different approaches you can take in studio/satellite audio, the quirks of different software, legal issues with actors/sound effects/music ... absolutely everything you need to start out with a production is covered really thoroughly & with lots of practical details/links.

    If it is possible to recommend stuff to be stickied on the vaa boards, I would like to do so.

    Just one thing, Ultrarob... don't you reckon you should've put in a few links....? ;-P
    Only kidding.

    WOOT FOR CELTX! <<

    *Mini notes from a Celtx user*

    Celtx caters to all writing formats. When you open the program, you have the options to have:

    Film
    Audio-visual
    Theatre
    Audio Play
    Storyboard
    Text...templates

    You can import pictures for the storyboard, audio clips, sound effects, the works. You can even share your work over the interweb! I haven't tried the sharing function it has though. There are 'samples' you can download. It comes with a sample of the Wizard of Oz script.

    Final Draft, I never used. My school has it on the computers and some teachers recommend it o.o I guess next quarter i'll check it out.

    The mac issue
    I have a MacBook Pro (bootcamped with XP on the other side >.>)

    *Garage band...frustrated...don't use.

    *I have audacity on mac, but I also have audacity on my external hardrive for windows with all the plug-ins since I had to clean my desktop pc.

    *Here is a little thing about Apple...they like money o.o I mean, what business doesn't? But yeah, you have to pay...for EVERYTHING. Lol I use a usb mic so I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with an expensive mic not working with out an extension but I wouldn't hold it passed Apple either Lol. I saved a bundle from just not buying simple things from them that are cheaper in a store and are of the same quality. The usb mic I use is EXTREMELY sensitive. It can even pick up your breathing even if you're not sitting next to it so imagine my frustrations when it comes to noise reduction when i'm at home .-.;; naturally, it picks up my laptop running. I'm usually sweating when I record because I have to turn the fan off. ;.;

    *I've found myself using Final Cut for audio things.

    Of course with having XP AND Leopard on my laptop, it's a tad annoying because it's ultimately a mac. I use XP more then Leopard though.

    Well! Here is my little confession! I'm working on A LOT of projects. I haven't actually produced anything! <.< >.>;;;;;;;;;;

    =p But i'm working hard on it! *medium guts* Well...I haven't posted anything i've done...that is .-.;;
    I have an artist and audio major helping me out. I am putting my all into it because when my work is finished, I want to be able to put in my portfolio, my reel and I want the others to be able to put it in theres. Also, I don't want to cast something that i'm only done with the first episode on. ._.;;
    That is just something 'I', personally, don't want to do. Soooo, it's taking a bit. Lol

    Overall,
    THANKX! Specially for the resources! I know who to go to for questions b^^

    Suggestion: It would be awesome to make a flash video for this XD

    Thanks Niko and Cake Batter, I'm glad I could help.

    Z-Che Chan, thanks for adding in some notes about Macs. I actually had a borrowed Mac for a while and mixed a whole show as a test on Garageband, so I know it can be done easily enough but it has quirks. I never got to try any of the fancier Mac software so I don't know much about it.

    As for a Flash tutorial, I will leave that to those better equipped and with more time. It would have to be much better organized and focused to be turned into a Flash presentation.

    In the coming months I'll slowly be going through the different parts of being a producer and the skills involved in more detail.
