[RayShiYi] Honto no Jibun - Shugo Chara

A little over a year later, the RayShiYi combo decides to cover another song! 8D You can check out our first song, Vitamin Love if you would like~

The song we sang is called Honto no Jibun ([My]True Self) and it's from the anime Shugo Chara. It's sung by a 3 girl unit called Buono! and consists of Airi Suzuki (14; birthday is today, ironically 8D), Miyabi Natsuyaki (15 and the leader) and Momoko Tsugunaga (16 and oldest). Ying, Rayna and I are actually not far off from how old these girls are so that's pretty nifty 8D

In order of solo appearance:
Ying - Airi ("Gambare" voice)
Rayna - Momoko ("Wakaru" voice)
Shika - Miyabi

Note: The mixing wouldn't blend 100% because of the way our files were and there were some varied pronounciations. Still, I think this came out quite well *__*

I didn't know they were that young o__o WOW. I'm in shock. BUT IN BIGGER SHOCK BY HOW FAST YOU FINISHED THIS! It must've been torture to mix D: We love you, Shika D:...! I'm sorry about the 'yeah/yay~' stuff. It sounded like they were saying 'yay' >__>... should've followed the script ;~;

Since there's few solos I don't really have much to say individually...

Rayna - You sound a lot less energetic than usual o__o especially at 'WAKARU!' and the 'YEAH's! Your bridge solo sounded weird o__o;; probably from switching from head ~ chest so much. The transition wasn't too smooth and it made it sound messy.

Shika - Your pitch (and voice sometimes) was wavery during your solos and you could've had more energy, but otherwise, I have nothing else to say

Mixing - DID YOU ADD SOME KIND OF FUNKY FILTER? IT SOUNDS REALLY COOL AND PROFESSIONAL. YOU MUST TELL ME OF YOUR SECRETS.
The beginning sounded very well timed/blended, but as it went along the timing got slightly more off. There were a couple times where one person who hold the note out too long (me) where you could've faded out. Some of the voluming of the solos could've been better. Compared to the parts where we were singing together they were too loud or too soft.


This is kind of random, but it would've been cool if we'd added harmonies >__>...!

Reply to Yingy's post: Well, I understand that. But when I was recording this, I was still recovering from an illness I was suffering for 3-4 days D; I really tried my best... >.< I'd re-record it if I could. I'm sorry~! Although, I can guarantee that I wasn't using head voice at all. o__O;

Okie. Well, overall, I thought we blended pretty well, even though you said it wasn't 100%. Lol. I really dunno what to comment on, because it's already so good. Despite me, who was still pretty much sick when she recorded ahaha. Sorry. D; But Shika and Yingy sounded great <3 So much energy. ^^; -shot- But Shika, your mixing does sound professional ahahaha. Awesome job~! I hope we can do more songs in the future. ;D How about it? Maybe I'll make up for the energy in that one? LOL.

I didn't use a filter, but I did dynamic process our audio files so I wouldn't have to do too much volume levelling. For the Rayna and your solo parts I just panned the audio to left (for yours) and right (Rayna); mine had none 8D;;. It sounds quite nifty~

@andy_ichigo - Thank you for listening! <33 I personally think I sounded a bit manly, but Ying and Rayna were so cute *__*

@Rayna - SILLY don't record when you're sick! D: I don't mean that in a mean/bad way, but it's not good for your health ;A;. Despite being sick, you still sounded really good; I didn't think the energy was anything major ^^;; It was be awesome to do more songs! 8D ...suggestions? >_O;;

Lol, I'll keep that in mind next time. Maybe I just wanted to quickly record it, because it was already past deadline? xD; I was recovering, so I guess you could say I was pretty okay, but I was still weak. ^^; Gomen ne~!

Anyway, what about Kokoro no Tamago? It's also a Buono! song. It's the first OP song of Shugo Chara! I thought it was so cute and fun ahaha. <3

Ying:
I love the natural youthfulness and energy in your voice; it really works well with the song (and sounds good in more ballad-ey songs too, like Suki Dakara). I really don't have much to say besides to holding notes a bit too long (like you yourself mentioned) and some mispronounciations (LOL what do I know? ¦D"), but it sounded really nice. I really liked your Yey/Yeahs though...D; I'm really, really bad at harmonies myself, so I would either definitely need a lot of help with them or not do them at all >_<;;.

Rayna:
I don't mean this in a bad way or anything, but it was difficult for me to tell that you were sick. xD;; If I hadn't heard your other recordings, I wouldn't have noticed, and even then, your singing is still really good. You have a really melodious(?) quality to your voice and it sounded really good with the song. There might have been one or two pronounciation blips (but I don't know for sure), but there isn't anything for me to really critique on ¦O

I'm not very satisfied with my own mixing, and that sounds bad, but I had to cut up our files a bit to match, and even then it still doesn't blend all of the way. I think the volumes were okay (and the volume pans were cool 8D), but the mixing/blending of our voices were iffy...^^;;

IF you guys want to do another song, I was actually thinking Renai Rider; the PV makes me giggle (especially Momoko! 8D).

I really enjoyed to listen to this~ It's really blended well.
A few timing issues a little, just one singer would sing a little later.
But I really liked it.. I couldn't hear many pitchy parts.. if any at all
-_-; actually I was really impressed, so I didn't pay close attention to find those problems.

I think its really good!!! Please continue!!

Wow you guys sound awesome when you are singing together!
There is some pitchyness here and there but seriously, you guys did really well! I was personally anticipating more solos in this song for you guys to shine ;___; *pouts and begs you guys to do another song with more solos*

One little thing, was that really Starry singing in that little solo bit? The first one? O_O Man I couldn't recognize your voice! It sounds uber cool o_O. Like, like... different. Did you adapt a different tone? X"D I have never detected this 'brightness' in your vocals before, somehow. Man I can't express myself but well, you need to post more songs! You have stopped posting T_T. Shika and Rayna too!! D:

Like Shika said, don't record while you're sick D: Better have it late + better quality.
I was being very brief/quick with my reply, so I guess I wasn't too clear ^^;; (and now that I've reread it, I don't even know why I said it that way...) What I meant was, that compared to what you usually do, this sounded really lacking. It still had energy, but you could do so much better - which is why it bothered me.
A while ago I put up a song project for Kokoro no Tamago, but nobody auditioned so I was planning to scout people for it instead, so, uh...

The Renai Rider PV is full of girly crack o__o!
But, since I picked Vitamin Love and you picked Honto no Jibun, Rayna should have the ultimate say >D;; but it would be cool to cover a trio of some sort. I'm okay with anything, though.

@ICD -
I think I did make myself sound a little more "8DDD YAYAYAYA WHEE!" for this song XD; but, even when I heard the final mix, I thought it sounded weird (but cool.) I think half of it was the dynamic processing Shika did.
