VA Pet Peeves

I was recording an interview with a shotgun mic on a boom pole, and this big girl walks around the corner and starts yelling questions at me.

"It that a camera?!"
"Shit! That thing looks heavy!"
"Do you edit with Final Cut Pro?"

I wanted to beat her with a dead squirrel.

I've had that. Your only hope is to stop auditioning with that voice. But then you increase your chances of not getting cast at all. It sucks. >_<

Nihahaha, it's funny, because I don't audition much, and when I do, it's for medium characters.

Keep auditioning for the character with the voice you want to use anyways.

Why give up? 'Cause you're embarrassing yourself? Most auditions are between you and the producer via email. Pretty private and you just don't get cast if you don't have what it takes.

Call it practice if you must. Weak self-confidence can be remedied by improving your self-efficacy (your ability to know what you can do and do it), not necessarily by your self-esteem (self-worth). Eventually, should you get cast using that voice, you can tell yourself then "I did that and I can do it again". Kinda like picking yourself up when your computer crashes after a good take.

......uh...which brings me to my next peeve.

My pickleheaded personality. I make decisions on straight away and then realize that it was a wrong move. I just made one yesterday. >_> Actually...two (three?) wrong moves. This is especially annoying, especially when it comes to casting decisions, scripting and the way I portray a character.
