Vic's got some range, as his Ikkaku and Luciano (a Code Geass jerk) are of any indication. However, all of his screams and yells tend to sound the same.![]()
Peeve: When newbies post and say something like "Hi! I've never ever voice acted before. I'm a total newbie. I just sent you some auditions k?"
-_- I don't know why, because I'm not a producer, so it really shouldn't bother me, but for some reason... it really really bugs me. I'm thinking, "Gah!! Don't tell them that!!" I mean, it's not like you'd go into a real audition and be like "Hey this is my first audition ever hur hur." The producer will immediately be like, uh oh.
I don't know, this could just be me being weird but... sigh, it's just annoying. I feel like you should pretend like you know what you're doing, even if you don't, so that the producer doesn't see your name and automatically think "Hm, a newbie, I wonder if they'll actually commit to this..."
I totally agree with this.
If you're a newbie, don't say anything about being a newbie. It may be blatantly obvious or you may blow them away with your audition. But the minute you say, "I'm a newbie", you've branded yourself as, well, a newbie, and that's the only thing people are going to remember. It may very well ruin your chances. Have confidence in yourself. So what you're a newbie, nobody needs to know but you.
My biggest pet peeve is when my brother decides to slam away on his drums at the exact moment I want to record. When I finally get fed up with his lame drumming being in the background of my recordings, he stops playing the moment I turn off the computer.

Yup, exactly. It's like never letting other drivers know you're a student driver. Bad things happen. It's the same with voice acting, only the bad thing could be not getting a role because of your admittance of being a newbie.
There's nothing wrong with newbies, of course. I jump at the chance of being able to cast a new person in a project of mine, just a lot of producers have had bad experiences with new persons who logged in one day to audition, got a role, and never seemed to log in again. x_x
My guess is that newbies would rather let producers know that they're new, rather than them hearing an audition and the producer thinking "OH MY GAWD THEY'RE SO BAD!!" D:
Of course I don't think producers are that mean XD and not all newbies are bad, but I think you know what I mean..right? xD'

The thing is though that people can tell how new you are to the forums by your post count, and a lot of people new to the forums are new to VAing in general (I think). So if I were a producer and I heard a... somewhat... not very good audition, I might check the post count and be like, "Oh, I see, they're new," and then I'd just give constructive criticism like I would for anyone else. But I think that if I saw that they posted "Lol I'm a newbie yayayay my first audition ever hooray!" I'd be kind of biased before I even heard the audition... which sounds bad, but... I dunno, just don't admit that you have no idea what you're doing!! >_<
Trying to stray away from anime-esque voices in your demo reel is hard work. XD
