Nothing is more horrible than a triple cast.

I think the thread should be locked before drama ensues. :l

For me, I always try to avoid double casting--always. Like mippa stated, it's weird to double cast if the person voicing both characters sounds the same (unless the characters are twins, then that's fine). If I double or triple cast it will never be major roles. It's either a major role and two very minor roles or a minor role and two extra roles.
My reasons for this are because of future lack of commitment, if it ends up being a long project with most characters getting 40-100+ lines for each script.
IF I feel one person can play two or more roles, I give that person the role I really want them to have and then then put them down as an understudy for the other character(s).
But, yeah, you'll probably never see me giving one person a major role and two supporting roles.
Then again, that's just how I feel on the subject. :l

New peeve:
People who post their demo reels in an audition thread to replace having to do the actual audition lines. That's kind of... lazy. I mean, if the producer asks for it, then fine, but if not that's just silly.

It's a tricky subject. I've been triple-cast in radioplays, where I've used completely different voices. But I suspect that there were not a lot of auditions for those shows, so the producer didn't have a lot of better options.
The biggest problems I see - aside from the similar-sounding voice issue, which is certainly possible to overcome - are:Obviously, this doesn't apply to 'extra' roles, just major ones.
- over-dependency on a single VA. In the pro world, that is probably not an issue, but amateur VAs do sometimes have lives which can conflict, and you may be faced with a need to recast multiple roles, rather than just one.
- Resentment from those who were rejected. This is especially problematic if you know that you are going to have to come back for more auditions. Since this is all unpaid, many VAs may simply decide that it is not worth their time.
When an actor/tress gets mad because of THEIR silly mistakes. Take saving their lines in the wrong file as an example. /:

I hate it when people post a deadline, say, a month in the future, then close casting within the week. >__<
Also, parts with only one short audition line, especially if the character has a potentially large range of emotions.
Edit: I also hate it when threads have really bad spelling or strange formatting/color combinations.
