I think if it's your fandub you can self-cast. I personally don't care if a producer can't fit the character or not because, well, I just don't.

If I self-cast, it's usually minor characters that I believe I can handle.

think if it's your fandub and you can mix/edit, you can self-cast.

If I self-cast, that's just what i'm going to do. If you want to be that character then. . .do what I did <.< Make it yourself and self-cast.

Can't please everyone. Lol. it's a double edged sword.

    You self-cast people get upset,
you hold auditions and the person doesn't get the part, you're a nazi.

Really, pick your poison I say XD

I haven't produced anything but reading the pet peeves, i've come up with this equation >.>

There's an entire thread that discusses self-casting. I am on the same boat that if you are able to produce your own work, your right to self-cast is entirely yours.

I personally limit how often I self-cast in my productions because I would rather have more people involved--I could've self-cast in my TUA or in Ageis, but I figured I would rather have more people have interest in my stories (by being part of the cast) than I would have being any said character.

Personally, I like to self-cast myself SOMEWHERE because I like to be apart of the production I produce; I have a couple ideas lined up and I try to pick the characters I feel I won't mutilate. ^_^; Also, that way, not only can I get tips on how to improve my mixing, but my voice-acting as well. Hurrah, two-for-ones! >>

Although I must say, doing half of the walla for a fandub clip is a WONDERFULLY fun way to be apart of it; you can say things like "I smell like beer!" or "I stepped on a monkey!". ::Maimed.::

That there "m" in "Hane Moon" is capitalized, people. The shift key ain't too far from said letter.

    I realise I really kinda hate auditioning. ^_^;

I can guarantee you that the NUMBER ONE reason why people start up fandub projects is because they want to selfcast as a specific character.

I'm guilty of it, so I don't mind if others do it... though I'll admit it gets a bit aggravating when it's the SAME character getting self-cast/pre-cast OVER and OVER again. Haruhi Suzumiya and Konata Izumi are a prime example of this.

So true, especially for me. I hate seeing the same characters being cast over and over again -- more variety is needed. Being the main character all the time is stupid -- supporting characters are the ones with more flavor~

When in audition threads, people feel the need to post the info in one post, the male characters in a second one and the female characters in a third.

Well I split my audition page up into three posts (information, characters, additional information) soley because its easier to edit the posts that way! Scrolling through one huge post just to add a name or fix up a messed up line is torture @_@

I got another pet peeve (probably been stated before) but it's so ANNOYING when people don't follow the rules for auditions! I asked for zipped files with a specific way of naming the file and I still get people who send me each line separately in different emails or better yet not even telling me who they are. I'm inclined to just flatout ignore those auditions.

Here's some new ones for me:

Doublecasting someone for two characters that sound way too similar as it is--and then the person sounds identical and you can't tell the characters apart!

This happened to me very recently, and you know? I would rather be cast as only one character and give the other role to someone else! If you're going to doublecast me as something, at least have them be two different voices! Otherwise don't deprive someone else of being involved!

    ...that's a weird one, isn't it?
