I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not (don' see why it wouldn't be), but I would just like to know about what annoyances people may have about the AVA community.

Like, for me...double-casting. I mean, one major role and then an extra is ok, but I just think it's unfair to other people who auditioned. I know you want to have a good project and the person you cast could be great for both voices, but now one person has two roles, and someone who could have had one has none.
    Others:
    Scripting straight from subtitles
    Claiming a "whole-series" dub
    Unreadable/confusing audition threads

    :p There's more, I'm sure.

If people can add what they think and others read, I think it may help make things better?

    Btw, don't get stupid, please.

Well sometimes double casting is good IF the person can bring the characters to their justice.

A whole series fandub? Sure it might be hard work but it's not IMPOSSIABLE...some people have serious dreams...I am hoping to keep my project going till I finish

What I do not like is.....precasting SO SO SO quickly not the precast in a day or so I mean like the same day they auditioned...

People who bump up threads from years ago and say they're sending auditions for it.

People who cast and uncast as they please.

People who don't follow rules, and then complain, get told to follow the rules, and keep complaining.

And just about everything beckie listed.

I guess this is pretty much what Erica said, but it gets on my nerves when I see people's incredibly large egos regarding their voiceover talent, when in truth, their talent doesn't even come close to measuring up to that ego.

Basically... people who think they're amazing, who actually suck, and refuse to realize that they need to improve.

I hate when people cast things the second after someone auditions. That is so annoying.

Another thing I don't like goes with the double casting thing but it's more towards self casting (as I've double cast stuff when I have to). But like the person doing the production, just started it and has already self cast as more then 1 major part, that's just not fair in my eyes. Another thing that goes with that is self casting as the main character in everything that they do, that's something else that I dislike.

When people post lousy stuff, and commenters sugarcoat it.

And when someone DOES post constructive crits, they can't handle it.

    Fail.

When people make unnecessary negative comments towards other people, when they don't even voice act well themselves

I agree with what Sukisho said. *cough* Especially when they do it in a thread that wasn't designed to critique people's voice acting or especially give criticism which is not constructive or even true and based on ridiculous personal bias. >.<
    _____________________

Here are my other annoyances -

    + First-come, first-serve casting

+ Recasting without notice (If you haven't heard from someone in months I understand, but don't tell me "take your time" with the lines on AIM one day and then put up an audition thread for recasting the next day without telling me. Oh, and don't say "I didn't know you were still voice acting since you didn't send me the lines yesterday, but you can have the part back I guess" No. I will not continue working with anyone who behaves in this way.)

+ Self-casting AFTER putting up auditions for a character. Obviously I have absolutely nothing against self-casting, but if you're going to do it, do it from the BEGINNING. It's one thing to self-cast because you haven't received any auditions for a certain character after the deadline and you just want to get the project going.... but why have 20 people send you auditions for the main character and end it with "Cast to ME! I confirm! Tee hee!"

+ Always casting your best friends even when they are clearly not the best person for the role. I understand using friends, but save yourself some time and just scout them. Don't hold auditions to get people's hopes up and then cast to the same people every time.

+ Nagging for lines EVERY. DAY. If it's past the deadline...fine, you have a right to nag; otherwise no one could finish everything. There's nothing wrong with a "Hey guys, one week til deadline" reminder, but HARRASSING me over messenger going "I SAW YOU on the VAA. You were looking at the forums so obviously you were online and had time to do my lines, so WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THEM?!" If you start threatening to recast if I don't send them *before* deadline... most likely I'll just say "Go ahead, recast! "

+ When people I don't even know send me a random, disorganized script and say "Here. Do these lines." with absolutely no information on anything. If you're going to scout someone you don't know, it's polite to ask permission first rather than just sending them a script out of nowhere and having them think "Who is this person? What anime is this? Did I even agree to this?"

+ When people insist "Do ANY voice, I don't care what voice you use" for a flash and then complain because "the voice didn't fit". C'mon, we're not psychic. No picture or personality description of our character combined with "do any voice"? Not helpful.

+ Digitally editing the pitch without first asking permission from the voice actor. You want me to do a higher or lower voice? Just say so. Your Goldwave pitch edits make it sound either slow it down to where I sound like I'm stoned, or pitch it up to where I sound like a rat on helium. You're the director - SPECIFY WHAT YOU WANT. And no, don't just say "Oh do whatever voice and I'll pitch it up or down if I don't like it."
