ok, i got my mic, installed Audacity and am all set. Oh, wait, i'm not. Because now for no apparent reason, my mic doesn't work! it was working yesterday, but now, no. the earpiece part works fine, and i know the right plugs are in right ports, which makes me think it might be the mic port, and the settings on Audacity are all default. i also know i'm not just mumbling, because i put the mic an inch from my mouth and spoke, none of which was picked up.
i don't expect a lifetime of use from a mic from wal-mart, but one day is not acceptable. is there anything i can do or did i just save up for nothing?

I think you may have to tweak the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in your control panel so you could enable the mic again. I think it was just disabed or something.

thats precisely what it was. apparently, the computer needed to scan for a mc before it would recognize one.
