    WELCOME to the Art Gallery!!!

Just like the Productions and Auditions posts there are some little things you NEED to take into consideration before you post your wonderful and awesome art for everyone to gawk at and make loverly comments to! So please read BEFORE you post art to make sure you are posting correctly and legally!

    COPYRIGHT LAWS:

DO NOT and I mean DO NOT post a picture that you have copied, reproduced, or traced WITHOUT GIVING CREDIT to the original artist/company/comic!!! This is a FEDERAL LAW & OFFENSE.

As such, this is a BIG no no and can get you as well as the WHOLE BOARD in deep DEEP trouble! Those pictures are copyrighted to whatever artist, country, and company they originally came from and if found or brought to their attention you can have the BOARD SHUT DOWN and your priviledges on the internets REVOKED as well as some hefty fines/jail time. Plus, it is just rude and disrespectful towards the artist who originally drew it and thought up the concept/idea.

ALWAYS GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!!! <3

    ART CRITIQUES

When you are commenting on someone's art work PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be polite, insightful, and positive.

A good formula as to how you should approach commenting is say something that you like about the work and then you can state in a positive manner what in the work needs improvement. Your comment should be meant to HELP the Artist, not to belittle, hurt, or discredit them in any way.

    WRONG WAY TO COMMENT:
I don't really get your picture and the eyes look terrible. The only good thing is the hair. It is nice.

    CORRECT WAY TO COMMENT:
What was your original comcept for this picture? I really love how you did the shading of the hair. It is so soft and delicate! You make the strands flow nicely as well as beautifully around the shape of her body, it is almost angelic! One thing that seems a bit off is the spacing between the eyes. Try making a straight line across her face to keep them balanced and to help you spacially!

POSITIVE POSITIVE POSITIVE!!! If you can't say anything nice then DO NOT say anything at all. If you don't have the time to make a post like this then save it for later when you do have the time to do everything to the best of your ability so everyone can be happyness and rainbows!

Thanks SO Very Much and happy posting!!!

Stephy, What would happen if nothing in the picture has a real...positive point to you? However, the reviewer would still like to give some insight to help the artist improve.

How would you suggest the reviewer handle that?

How may I help you? ^^

    May I answer?

Make suggestions. Say I think this could be improved by adding: such and such... End with a positive too such as, "with some more work I can see you being well on the way to being a great artist! Just keep practicing!

    Hatomikazuki actually answered this perfectly!

You really want to keep the person positive because maybe drawing is something they really enjoy even if it is not something they plan to major in. Maybe they aren't as great as we would like them to be yet and are still at the beginning. You don't want to crush their spirits by saying something out right mean and insensitive because what looks like something that maybe is not the best to us may be the best that they can do at the moment. Understand?

    THANK YOU!

I've been battling it out with tracers trying to let them know that what they are doing is NOT GOOD and they keep arguing that I'm being stupid and "jealous."

As for my approach with circumstances stated in Kei's question, I would compliment them numerous times, and sprinkle in my critique. After all, sugar coated medication is a lot easier to accept.

Edit: Wait, I read that wrong, you said has NO positive point.
Well, in that case, I would just be nice about how I worded things. I almost always include comments like, "It's a nice attempt, and if you keep up the practice I'm sure you'll grow as an artist and produce wonderful artwork in the future!" Something along those lines.
