Hello all, after critiquing as many demos as possible (AKA 2 or 3), and having to explain to quiet a few people that my previous demo did not represent my voice well, I would make a few voice demos, a character, commercial, and narration.

    That's it, right?

Oh no, the news gets even better. While asking on the Newgrounds Audio Forum if I could post my demo/demos there, a professional audio mixer named "Mark" proposed to me that he would mix my demos for me. Although I wasn't really looking for it, I gladly accepted, and I have to say, it turned out amazing, and I have an insurmountable amount of debt towards this guy. Just to be safe, I'll say it now. I did not mix this demo. I repeat I DID NOT MIX THIS DEMO. His site is at http://markusound.com/. It's got some great stuff, but that's not what I'm here for.

Please critique/give feedback on this. It would be greatly appreciated.

I've never given a critique, so I think I'll shy away from that road. But as for a non-critique-based reaction, I thought your demo reel was pretty great!

Several lines had me giggling uncontrollably, especially the one about the wizard who was going to "destroy you with my, uhhhh... trees!"

I loved the emotions you conveyed with your voices. And kudos to the person who mixed your demo, the background really made it sparkle.

The first voice blew me away... I got back up, staggered back to the demo, and was blown away again by the second voice... and repeat. You had the emotion, you had the energy, you had the voices, and DAYUM, you had the acting. Wonderful, fantastic, excellent demo. I doff my imaginary hat to you, sir.

Good. I think you're getting there. If you're willing to accept it, I have some harsher critique that may or may not be helpful.

It might be your mic, or the mix, but the gruff/grit sound you're going for doesn't translate that well. By that same note, many of the voices sound very similar. That could be the mic or mix, most likely the mic, but it is holding your sound back.

Many of the recordings are loud and expressive, which is good 'cause you've broken the confidence barrier, but unfortunately overdriven. You might want to pull back, or aim off to the side slightly for a less distorted sound.

You talked about multiple demos, and those other demo's probably fill in the holes, but there really wasn't much non gruff/grit to grasp your more natural voices.

And articulation. Well, I'm sure we all need articulation practise. . Listen for your slurs, where you lose the ends of words, and where you go quiet in your speech. Perhaps taking in more air might help.

    Keep up the goods.

Thanks for the critique and what not guys.

And mork, I think for the first two, that's got something to do with my mic, and something to do with my choice of voices. I definitely intend to get a new, much better, microphone as soon as the opportunity arises.

Also, you're right about the multiple demos thing. This is just to show my vocal range away from my normal voice. My commercial and narrative
demo definitely show my normal voice more.

    Thanks again for the critiques.

    Hey! I must've missed this the first time it was put up >__<;
I've been looking forward to this though! =D
I must ask, did you plan all these lines out, or did you just improvise most of them? xD They were all really great. I can see what you mean when you say demo reels are about originality. :3...
I noticed that you did a lot of yelling lines. xDD Those were great, but I'd like to hear some other emotions from you next time. :3.. Maybe a softer, gentler type voice? I don't know. xDD...
After hearing your "normal" voice, I know that you've got milder voices in you, but you used a lot of raspy voices in this.
I loved the "battle scene" you had in it. Reminded me of Ichigo from Bleach... xD... Ever played him before? ;P...

    I really liked this demo!
I'd just like to see some more variation in emotion. :3
