If it makes you feel better, its not like the winner is getting a main role. Only maybe a couple-episode character tops.

The competition is a crock, they all are. The best way to deal with it is not to take them seriously and eventually they will fade away. Its just an easy little publicity thing for the dubbing company to do, and while a role in an anime may mean a whole lot to a lot of people, a quick one-off character really doesn't mean much to the people directing the anime.

Personally, I just avoid these things like the plague. Tried it once, and I have no intent to do it again.

that being said I think its very stupid to do these contests like this. Having people just get randomly selected out of a pot of people is just stupid considering what the prize is. If you are ever going to hold a true competition there needs to be prior screening. Either weeks before the Con have people send in demos...or give everyone interested a piece of a script and send it in to their emails or w/e....you just cant have a competition like this if you very well could be squating all the real talent because of a stupid name out of a hat drawing.

Think about if you went to that con and your a great actor/actress...your prepared, you got what it takes....and then you dont get randomly selected and some moron wins the competition out of sheer luck of being the best in a crowd of terribles. It would make me a little angry ill tell you that right now.
The man (male, right?) speaks truths. Which is why I'm glad the Karaoke contest is doing just that this year... not that a Karaoke contest is anything life-changing, but, you know what I mean... I just hope I make the cut :3

This contest made me angry cus I first heard about it from Electricblue. We will be going this year like we did last year and would love to try out. But we are both NOT 18 which defeats the purpose unfortunatly....would still be cool if one of you got it.

I heard about this the second it was announced on the website. Read through the entire thing and was excited because I'd love to participate. And then I got to that dreaded last line. >_< Saying that I can't participate because I'm not 18. *sigh* Oh well. Got a few years to go, then.

But, hey, the karaoke competition is enough for me! ^_^ Hopefully I'll make the cut for that. =D

I really wish them the best with this, and hope the outcome reveals a quality talent. Anyone here who participates in it, I'd love to hear their stories on it.

Well I made the trip up to Boston today just to check out the contest. I, sadly, wasn't one of the ones picked, but the people that got selected were very talented (a couple were kinda rough, but nothing ear splitting), even the judges seemed surprised at the level of talent.

It was still a great experiance and I only wish there were more opportunities for people to do this. So, overall I'm glad I went.

Plus I got there early and was able to see 5 eps. of "Tekkaman Blade" SCORE!!!

Oh good. I wish I could have seen the contestents myself. I wonder which studio the winner will be doing their prize part for.
