It can't be any worse than X-3.
Actually, it's based on the upcomign RE5, which is set in bright desert like areas.
And this is the final film of the series. There was a fourth film planned, in which this film would lead into. However, Sony got them to tye everything up in this film and canceleld the fourth film.
In which as I stated in an earlier message, the rumour flying around is, Sony plans of rebooting the RE film series by doing exact film adaptions of the games.
The theatrical trailer has been released. Actually looks pretty cool.
Spencer Mansion is back possibly even with the Hive, The Crows are in this one, and it looks like even Tyrant makes an appearance.

I for one am very excited. The movies are entertaining, in the very least, and I really like them.
Im hoping for a Claire flashback though >O Lets see me some Leon/Sherry/Ada
Nothing can be worse then X-3! It's so awful that it makes you wonder could Bryan Singer had made it watchable.
Also on a different note, I read somewhere that Paul Anderson wanted to make a 4th Resident Evil movie set in Japan but he didn't mention why plot wise.
This trailer does make me wonder if it's just America thats over run with zombies and not the rest of the world.
Brett Ratner's X-3 and Bryan Singer's X-3 were very different ideas.
Bryan's X-Men 3 idea was that the Dark Pheonix story was the main plot. Emma Frost/White Queen, an evil mutant with telekanetic powers and can turn her skin into diamonds (Bryan wanted to get Siquorney Weaver to play the role) would have been a new villian who would have been responisble for the Dark Pheonix, as she would have destroyed the barriers holding back the Pheonix powers. Gambit would have been in the film as a new new interest for Rouge (instead of the other way around with Shadowcat being a love interest for Iceman). And Cyclops would have a bigger role.
However, because Bryan and the majority of the writing staff left (as well James Marsden), Fox scrambled to find a new director and writers. However, they were not given any extra time to work on things, Fox wanted the film made on the scheduel they gave Bryan (which was stupid).
So, really.... Although the blame is placed on Brett, it was really Fox's fault for not giving them more time, and Bryan's fault for leaving. As such, Superman Returns ended up a mediocre film as well. So we got, not just one disappointment, but two.
Where is Brayn stayed attached to X-Men 3, it may have turned out well, and instead of Superman Returns, we would have most likely have gotten a reboot (like Batman), and ended up GOOD.
as for the Resident Evil films, the original plan was for this film to end with another cliffhanger, that would have been resolved later this year (or spring 2008 ) with Resident Evil 4 that indeed, would have had them go to Japan. However, Sony didn't like the idea, and wanted to end the trilogy, so they rewrote the ending so that the film is supposed to tie up everything in the end.

Sorry I didn't see your earlier post my bad.
Did you know Brett Ratner was all set to direct a Superman reboot film with a script with J.J Adrams?
I hated the first one.
Loved the second one (compared to the first one, at least)
Hope this one will be good.
That sums up my thoughts.
