  1. #1 Demo reels...
    Okay, here's the dilly-yo.

Having managed to do okay in theatrical and TV acting (I'm now on my way to unionization!), I'd like to make a voice demo.

Anyone who actually knows me knows I do a pathetic amount of VA work amateur wise.

I also sure as hell don't wanna pull clips out of Final Fantasy or similar.

So, any advice to an oldbie who, in his urge for professionalism, doesn't wanna eff things up?

-First off, list down the types of voices you can do and what your range is. Try out new things while you're at it if you haven't gotten the chance to do voies you've never tried before. Record a sample, see how it sounds, and if it works, write it down that list.

-For every voice you have listed, write up a small scene, like it would be listening to a scene from a TV show, movie or cartoon.

-Try to split it up in animation, character or narrative/commercial types

-Record the scenes, and put them together.

    -Maximum length: 2 minutes.

If you'd like, I'd love to help you out with mixing and all that jazz

EDIT: Download random demo reels from various pros to get an idea of how they should sound like I have a bunch downloaded, so I could upload those so you wouldn't have to search for them.

Go to http://www.voicebank.net to get some great ones. Go by Agency Listing and check out hte reels for International Creative Management(ICM)

The word is "Cast," not "CASTED" For the love of all that is sacred: "Casted" is not a word.

Well we all know it is quality not quantity. At least the little work you have done has been good.

Well anyway I don't know anything about demo reels, hence probably why you have not asked me. I mean I have been 'making' mine for... ohh about 5 years now? I'll never be happy with it *laughs*
