For my university piece, we are contemplating the idea of utopia and what it really is. So, I'm asking you all the same question...It can be anything you believe to be utopia-esque. Anything you'd associate with that word.

Q: What is your idea of utopia? Discuss.

    (P.S: It'd really help a lot guys, thanks! ^^)

A utopia? My idea of a utopia is a city in which there is no crime whatsoever. A city that is perfect in every single way. A utopia is something that is impossible though, because perfection is something no one can truly achieve. Sooner a later, the tranquility in a utopia would shatter causing many problems...I feel like writing now, >.>

This seems like it would go in the serious discussion/meaning of life section. Well, a utopia is and ideally perfect place, ne? Which means that no one would have any needs. Therefore, food would not be a problem. Everyone would have shelter. Each person would have their loved one. Of course, human potential must not be wasted, so a utopia must be one in which people are not lazy, and still work hard and do their best. But if there are no needs, then working seems useless. So a utopia is a paradox that completely turns on itself once it is acheived.

Thread moved for you and, while this is an interesting topic... I'm not sure we should be doing your homework for you.
Because I'll be pulverizing you sometime over the weekend.

And the cleaning lady... cleans up... dust. She dusts. And she has weekends off, so... Monday. Right?

This isn't homework. We're just conducting research on what people consider utopia. That way we can critically analyse the different interpretations and act accordingly. Think of it as market research. :3 Thank you for concern.

    Awesome topic..

I feel a little guilty telling you about this for your homework, but there was a famous philosopher saying that we are currently living in yesterday's utopia since we are always striving to create our own collective utopia.

Me personally I think the utopia I want to live in and most of the problems I see have to do on a fundamental level with people not respecting one another, or simply people not caring about how another person might feel.

I actually wouldn't want a society where hard work was not rewarded, but I'd like to see a society where work is optional, but you only get the bare minimum for survival if you choose not to work. That way people could choose to persue artistic endeavors without having to be encumbered by
having to make enough money to survive. I hope technology gets to the point where we no longer have to work.

my idea of a utopia is a place with no violence and everyone knows right from wrong, i mean everyone can get mad once in a while all emotions expressed just not depression. where it is easy to get a job for anyone and that everyone feels respected.

Also have respect for the enviroment and animals and people living around them. No More 3rd world countries and tax for the greedy government. No more Wars and peoples greed for wealth, and Definantly NO abuse, animal cruelty and starving people on the street. A place where everyone gets along and Everyone is hard at work either at school or the workplace and noone gets underpaid for their hard work and sucsess is a regular thing for EVERYONE

it maybe a long time till that happens but thats my happyplace for now

A perfect utopia is unlikely. As people can not conform as well as we hope. I'm sure if the VAA said we are only allowed to do only Mermaid Melody projects of course people will rebel. I also think that while we strive for something that can never happen is a not a waste of time.

The only real utopia would be a world where only one person is living, but even that in itself could not even be a true utopia as he would be alone and who knows what would happen then.

I believe that the closest that anyone has come to a utopia were the chinese before the wars started happening. There may have been more, but I've been up since 6 pm the last night
