I think this is an excellent idea~! It'll definitely help people increase their range!

You'll just have to clearly define what qualifies somebody has a "new" or "verteran" VA. This sounds like a wonderful idea, I hope it works out for you.

I'm thinking of a 100-point system to determine to see if someone's "new" and "inexperienced". Something like one and ten points for a "minor" and "major" role in an amateur production, Twenty-five points for a minor professional role, and a full one hundred for a "major" professional role. Get one hundred points or more, you do not qualify. Oh yeah, "Major" means the leading or supporting roles. "Minors" are like NPCs, the nameless store vendor, the "extras".

Some others I might put into consideration is how long have you been a member of the VAA or the VAC (whatever's longer). Two years or less?

Or what about the average of your top three flashes you're involved in posted on Newgrounds.com? Average score should be 3.75 or lower.

Qualify two out of three criterias, and you're good.

I might forgo the "vet team" and straight up use the entire community to help crit everything, from the auditions, voting who gets the role, all that fun stuff. I hope there aren't any Simon Cowells here (even though he's brutally honest, it's the negatives that might get to me). I have a better idea on where on the VAC I'll post it, but very fuzzy on where here on the VAA.

I remember a project like this being planned before, and the biggest problem was determining who was 'experienced' or not. The thread itself was actually full of pretty good suggestions, so I guess you could check it out it you wanted. XD

I think the point system, while efficient, may need a bit of redesigning. It's a bit difficult for me to understand [but I'm a bit of an idiot so it my not be for others XD]. It's looking very good, but there are potential places where there may be some mishaps along the way. Two years seems like a long time to be around to me, so... XD

As for the vet team, it may help to have one or two veterans as minor characters. I myself give a full critique for anything I'm in and probably shorter three-sentence comments for anything else, and maybe the veterans would feel compelled to do a good long critique for something they're in.

And I also have a small issure on self casted things. Would they count as well because I might as well go and self cast myself for the main character for 10+ projects, but then get over 100 points bcause of that. But since I selfcasted I still may be inexperienced and not be comparable to the other people with over 100 points. So yah.XD And what about U/S?;_; And would singing roles count? Like all those cover group audition things you see nowadays.

And I agree on letting veterns have minor roles as they're more likely to comment and help critique the younglins.8D

As for redesigning the 100 point system I think that may be necessary because even I'M considered "experienced" not counting self casted and U/S roles. Which is saying something.D: I would make it so U/S would only count as 5 points instead of a full 10 and keep the 10 points for a major role and bring it up to 2 point for extras/randomguynumber1/GirlA. And for selfcasted things I wouldn't really know because you may be uber awesome even if you self cast a lot.

Thanks for insightful input. I'll most likely won't count self-cast roles, mainly because you yourself inherently knows what you want and be flexible with yourself. But there are producers out there who may not be flexible at all, so you need to be adaptable and flexible for the producer. Rarely it is the other way around, me thinks. Then again, I tend to adapt my characters to the current VA voicing him or her.

Also if you were cast in multiple episodes in a series, I'll count it as one role. Cast in all 26 episodes as the lead in a fandub? 260 points?! And you still sound [relatively] terrible?! BROKEN SYSTEM!

Hopefully I can streamline it to be simple and informative.

For the vet selection, I might use the same point system, but have the requirements be higher and above. Maybe 250+?

I'll see if I can fit the vets in minor roles. It'll be tough since it's a LG15-style vlog, not to mention the vets might go for the more prominent roles (in original series like this). Any vets want to be a minor pizza delivery kid? Police officer? Crazy annoying guy/girl from across the hall? Clients? (It is a light detective series after all.)

I'll announce what's going on with the "Big Sister" of Project SWANSONG sometime later (which will only look for the most awesome). Kasey's on the Kase! is meant as a buildup series for a future story arc.

This is a great idea - I had been hoping to do it, but never got anything started.

I think that the most important element would be strong direction during the voicing process, so that the newbies have a chance to learn and improve. If the only feedback comes when the final product is out, months after they submit their lines, that could be way too late.

Online (Skype) read-throughs could be very helpful as well, as they provide a much lower-pain way to get immediate feedback and improve.

If you can get vets to participate in the critiquing early on, you probably don't need to cast them in minor roles, anyway. I would be happy to help out here in offering early feedback.

I intend to skype talk with the individual VAs along with the vet team. I found it to be a great way to communicate as well.

Since the first collected episode is the focuses on character introduction, I'll go easy on them, then it'll get get progressively tighter.

I intend on gathering the vet team first, and get them involved in the audition process, see what you think of the crop.

I might have two "ProVet" in as well, (you need to be in at least THREE (?) professional productions and have over 350 points total(???)). Two "ProVets", four "vets", sounds good? *bleh* Getting ahead of myself. Maybe "ProVets" is better as a distinguished title rather than a role and just have four helping me.

I think it's a fantastic idea, and as someone still relatively new to the VA scene I would love to audition. I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

If the point system can be ironed out, I imagine that would be about as "fair" as one could be with these matters.

Hmm, this is the point system as of now..

Amateur roles:
Extras/NPCs: 1 point
Supporting: 7 points
Lead: 10 points

Professional roles:
Extras/NPCs: 25 points
Supporting: 50 points
Lead: 100 points

In order to minimize the amount of points gathered for a more accurate system:
1. Self cast roles will not count
2. In the case of multiple roles, only one role, that has the highest point value, will be counted
3. In the case of multi-part series, they only be treated as one role. So even if your character appears in multiple episodes, they will only be count for two of those appearances.

Requirements for:
-Qualification to voice in Kasey's on the Kase!: 100 points or under
-In order to be a "Synsanoko Savior", someone who helps out in giving the VAs advice and comments, 250 points or higher
-To gain the status of "Synsanoko Savior ProVet", you need to have done three professional VA work, and have 350 points or higher. This is just a title, nothing more.

I've said before, that I want to be fair as possible to the VAs, so I'll be rather tough on the S2.
-Getting caught being "Simon Cowell" on the VAs three times, being brutally honest and negative with no redeeming advice, will result in a ban. But if there is an outcry by the VAs wanting him or her back, then the banned S2 will be reinstated. But another three times will result in a perma-ban with no chance of being reinstated.
-Getting caught saying over negative comments (i.e.: You completely suck, NEVER F***IN' voice act again!) twice, this will result in an instant perma-ban with no chance of being reinstated.

That sounds really cool! When do you plan on starting it? And how many people will be participating?

Technically I've already started it by creating two Youtube accounts a few weeks back, caseysonthecase and YukiDaKitty.

In terms of looking for VAs, I might start as early as next week. There are two males and three female roles, and auditions will last for about two weeks with bumping every two days or so. There'll be a higher audition limit as usual, most likely thirty.

As for the S2s, recruitment starts around the same time as the auditions, and I might have up to ten come on board. The reason why I chose a rather high number is because I want the S2s to have time to do their own projects as well. And having them totally active on this will burn them out. I'll be expecting them to help out two of the VAs that are cast in the project.

The S2s will include members from both the VAC and the VAA, email will most likely be the best way of contact, with Skype being as used as practical demos.

Mostly likely, I'll be casting them on my own, since I personally know what I want for the characters. I'll be giving out relatively "coarse" advice in terms of direction, while the S2s will be giving "finer" advice in terms of technique.
