So a short time after making my blog request, I'm finding a little button on the threads that I was like, "hey wait I didn't see this before" and it said "Blog this post", and I'm like, "blog? what blog?....OH". Aaaand thusly here I am now. X3
Enough with the pleasantries! Videocaptor Productions now has its own blog!! It will be used for me to post updates on my current projects and upcoming ones I'm considering.
(a studio logo for now, hope it looks all right?)
Current Projects:
- No Rest for the Wicked mangadub
I've been cranking away at this since February basically; read up on its designated blog page coming soon to see how much progress I've made on it so far! XD
Finished Projects:
- Spirited Away fandub clip
Oh okay this isn't really much of anything but it's technically the first production of VCP, and it was for a good cause, i.e. Kawaii Kon contribution!
- Rozen Chronicles original RPG [Collaboration with Duskmaster13]
A once-you-pop-you-can't-stop sort of thing, I've ended up being a co-writer, co-producer etc. of sorts for this project. Updates on it will therefore be on the site above, and it's not really a VCP project, but it's become partially my project so I figured it deserved a mention here.
Production canceled, so strike'd =( BUT!
It was not in vain:
Rozen Chronicles Introduction!
Rozen Chronicles Character Reel!
Drama Skit: Rozen Sailor Fuku!
=D
- Star Driver: Radiant Takuto trailer fandub
I won't even try to explain this in a little blurb here. Just watch it. That'll explain what I mean when I say it is 'Gurren Lagann gone fabulous' XDXD
Possible Future Projects:
(note: in consideration, meaning I will not necessarily do all or *any* of them; this is to keep track of ideas of stuff I might do later =P Very subject to change. If you're interested in seeing a project idea go through, make it known! I admit that I'm more likely to do one project over another if I see a lot of enthusiasm for a particular one XD;; )
- Mujin Wakusei Survive fandub
Has *anyone* even heard of this anime? ...Thought not. That's exactly why I want to do it XP Poor thing, I doubt it'll ever be licensed, not one of its 52 eps, so it's highly unlikely it'll have any sort of official English dub. So sad. Although apparently it has a popular Spanish dub, but that's no help to us English speakers.
But this'll have to wait until I've gotten No Rest a lot further along; I don't want to juggle multiple things when I'm still so fresh to this, lol. Not sure if I'd just want to do clips or if I'll do a whole episode or two, but yeah...52 eps is not something I'm thinking of fandubbing in whole 8D;;- Survive AMV to "Asu e no Brilliant Road"- Pandora Hearts mangadub: anime continuation
I'm thinking if I did this alongside the fandub (I'd naturally have the material cause I'll be sifting through the show looking for good clips anyway), I could also use it as a trailer for it if I added some voice quotes on a shortened version of it =3 This uh...would be my first AMV evar so I dunno if it would turn out well ^^;; No harm trying, though?
I say continuation of the series because I'm only planning to dub the part that goes on from where the anime left off; in essence, continuing the anime with voices and music and mixing with the manga instead of actual cel art. =D
Of course...this has to wait until *after* I get to reading the manga, and hell, finishing the actual friggin series 9_9
- Denno Coil fandub clips
Now, this is actually a 26 ep series, not a 52 whopper like MWS, so technically this is within range of a full fandub. However, I am not going to be that ambitious, as I don't honestly like mixing all THAT much =P Like MWS though, it is currently not licensed despite being out for several years and really deserves more attention than it gets. I think this is a great show to choose clips from though, as there are concentrated awesome bits that are very clippable, if that makes any sense.
...Another reason that I simply wouldn't do a full-series, or even a full ep, is cause this is an FX heavy show what with all the virtual "spells" the characters use, and I suspect that could be great mixing fun...or great mixing hell, I suspect in my case 8D;; How would I find just the right SFX?? =x So if a scene has too much of that I can consider cutting it out. Though, I can't avoid it for some important scenes so well, I'd have those segments when they really count. =P
- 1/2 Prince mangadub
Technically it's a "manhua", not a manga, but who the heck knows what a "manhuadub" is lol XP But gosh, I really like this manga. It's funny, it has great characters -- did I mention that the main character is a girl masquerading as a guy in an MMORPG? 8D This has no anime equivalent, much less an English dub, so this is prime territory for a Videocaptor treatment. ;D
- Double K comicdub (a Gurren Lagann AU fancomic)
I wonder if anyone here has heard of this little thing? 8D There aren't all that many pages of it out, so I'd only end up doing like a(n epic) scene or two, but hey, it definitely fits with the studio's creed of new voice work for something awesome!
- Princess Tutu fandub clips
Okay, so here's one out of the blue. Princess Tutu in fact does have an official dub, and one that I am quite fond of actually. Furthermore, someone's already doing a fandub of it. So, why am I considering doing clips from it anyway? Well, for one thing, that one mentioned is the only VAA production going on of it, and a full series fandub; meaning, there are lots of badass scenes that they wouldn't be getting to for a while, and also a more backhanded motive for me is that the best way to make a show known on the VAA is to make fandubs of it. XP So, unlike the vast majority of VC projects, it's not to create new voices for characters, but sorta a chance for me to get more people into one of my all-time favorite anime. Still...this isn't on top of my priority list, not because of how much I like it but that it's not like this has *never* been done before. XP
- Seirei no Moribito fandub clip(s)
Same reasoning as Princess Tutu, it has a nice dub that I like, so i's only because this show is wonderful awesome love, and I'd love to give it some visibility with a good clip or two. But also, it's because I've always wanted to try voicing the main female protagonist Balsa, who fits my medium-low vocal range, which is one of my strongest, and she's also made out of badass win squared. *o*
- Star Driver: Radiant Takuto fandub clips
This was actually by prompting from the Takuto of the trailer fandub who wanted to give some more clips a go -- seems like fun to me, specially since I don't think there's much stuff up for this here yet, so I may do this sometime! I've already gotten a few suggestions as to which ones I might do from various sources XD
...Why are there so many fandubs on this list. I need original projects to put on here plz kthx I don't want VCP to be primarily a fandub studio. x_xWhen I get out of my writer's block I swear
About the Studio:
In general, I like to produce projects in which (decent) English voice work does not currently exist. These would be things like mangadubs with no anime equivalent, fandubs of shows that have never been licensed or given a proper dub, or work on totally original material, more often than not my own.
History of the name:
(warning, TL;DR follows!)
This actually goes back some time -- way back in the day of Cardcaptor Sakura (geez I feel old), I once had a decent video capture card from which I took clips of CCS and other media recorded from TV. I since drifted away from it when the video card started being incompatible with the media I had. Tomoyo being my long-standing alias, and Videocaptor being a pun on its source show's namesake, I thought my days as one of such had come to an end. ...I realized, as I was gathering material to produce videos of my own again, that in fact such days had returned to me once more, in a new, more glorious form. =D *snicker*
