The title basically is a reference to ordinary people crossing over into supernatural territory where they did not belong. The story takes place in upstate NY around sleepy hollow, the town's name is beddington. Kristen chambers, the main character, is enrolled in a local university within the area. She begins to notice strange occurences surrounding the inhabitants of beddington.
