MegaCon 2006?

It's a really big convention and I'm pretty sure one of the largest in the US (somewhere in the top 10)
Anyway it's going to be a blast. MegaCon is famous for it's cosplay and while it dosn't have that many voice actors it WILL have Scott McNeill and thats good enough for any VA to wana go XD Quality over quantity.

It's Feburary 24-26 and it provides massive sections that cater to any type of geek out there. Sci Fi, Anime, Comic Book, Gaming, Video Gaming anything your little nerd heart could desire XD and as a muti-intrest nerd I'm definantly going and it would be great to share rooms with fellow VAs and nerd out with friends XD

You can pay for a day and go all weekend if you like, since they only check for your tag in cosplay and the dealer's room.

My girlfriend and I will probably be going at least two of the days next year. I haven't gotten to go to MegaCon in a while, so I've been dying to go. Plus, I only live a little over an hour away from the convention center.

We should get some sort of AVA thing going on.

ya thats what i was thinking. I know alot of AVAs don't live in the South east area but it would be awsome if everyone could find out from everyone where their going to be and meet up somehow.

One of these days i might actualy give into looking at bleach like i did naruto. But anyway... i'm trying to decided if i'll make a attempt to do another costume for MegaCon or i'll just stick with my Lil Slugger awsomeness.

Katie if you know VA's in VAA that wanna come then please get them to come! I really want to arrange some kind of hang out for the southeasts biggest Anime convention. What are your guys plans?

I'll be at Katsucon (without a Katsu! ;; ) cosplaying Ise Nanao from Bleach (I can't believe how much Bleach has grown in the US! At Kunicon last year I didn't see a single Bleach cosplayer, and now fandom's enormous.) but I wish you all the utmost fun.

So far thats at least 6 South East VA's that are going to Megacon this year, I really hope to get this totally organized with everyone before the beginning of Feburary just so everything is ready. Glad to know alot of people are Cosplaying

Yeah, I think the largest anime con in the southeast is...well, MetroCon is the most organised of the ones that I know of, as far as I know (since I've heard little of AFO and JACON for 2006).

I do hope to attend that.

Well Mega Con really catters to all types of nerd and/or geek, i guess you can say the Sci-Fi section is the biggest but considering they have an entire section in their website devoted to animation voice actors i don't think anime is a small thing for them. I mean a big thing for the Con is the anime cosplay. But thats why i'm looking forward to MegaCon cus if by some chance i've had my fill for the day of anime i can go catter to my table topp geek or my Star Wars geek. It's great! XD

... MetroCon was shitty imo. It's also a newer convention so I wouldn't really expect much in the first place.

Metrocon was crap. :/ I shouldn't be complaining since my group won best group, but other than that, I really didn't have much fun and the center they picked out was terrible!

A gathering would be an awesome idea! Anyone got hotels reserved? I'm not staying at the con hotel to stray away from a few parties, so I'll be staying at the Rodeway Inn.

Here's my cosplay schedule thus far:

FRIDAY - Tetsunosuke from Peace Maker Kurogane.
SATURDAY - Orihime from BLEACH.
SUNDAY - Either Yagi's Kimono, or Kurenai from Naruto. :D

I'll be driving up from Miami but I'm pretty sure we'll be there by the time the con starts on friday ( 1PM, wtf! That's late! But good for us miami people, oh yesss.. )

I just can't wait for the dealer's room. homg. x_X

I don't plan on staying in a hotel room so my BF and I will need to try and find someone in Orlando and stay at their place if we go for more than a day..

I'm trying to stay at the hotel but it all depends on if i can find someone to room with and if i can get a job before the con, i need moolah! If i can arrange a gathering i want to collect everyone's cell numbers so if i don't have a room we can meet somewhere in the con. If i do have a room i will try and bring video games and if someone can provide a laptop, i'll bring my expensive mic and pre amp to record the weirdness that is VAs. I might even be able to ask one of the pro VA's at the con if he or she would want to come join us and get some tips on tape to bring back to the VAA. But most of this hinges on getting some mode of communication from everyone to me and me trying to organize a place to meet. So anyone that is interested I'm up for suggestions for communication ideas and anything you would want to do if I am able to arrange the meeting.

that actualy sounds good. That will give people that are arriving late a chance to meet up, we'll have to pick a place though. Once we get to the meeting place it'll be alot easier to figure out what we wana do. We can figure out if we wana go to dinner or go back to a hotel room to do recording or just take pictures at the con if people really have a squedual to keep, which i hope will not be the case lol.
So i know Kat is going so i'll make a list right here and update it accordingly so we know who's gonna try and meet up at the agreed place.

So if your pretty sure or absolutly sure your going to Mega and wana meet up, make a post after this one, excluding the people already added. Also I put a person's cosplay next to their name, if they are, so it might be a little easier to find them in the fray...maybe lol. I just wana get a list just to know how many people are coming :)

Megacon's a pretty big place, so we should be able to easily find a quiet corner in another convention hall that isn't taken. :3

I know you'd prefer a girl, thats alright, but if the time comes close and you still havn't found anyone to be a roomy I need people to room with since i'm probebly not going to have enough money to room by myself. So if you don't find anybody let me know if it would be alright if i could share a cost with you guys.

We now have 5 roommates, but if you need a cheaper room, we might have some more floor space. It would be around $70 for the 3 nights (Thurs-Sat night) and less for only 2. Contact me if you're still interested. We don't really need any extra roommates, as it wouldn't be saving us much money, it would just be taking up space, but we're always willing to make room if you need it. ^^
