Pardon if this is a repeat thread, but I didn't see one like it under the first four pages.

So, I have this problem that I go through usually once a month. I suppose it would be similar to a woman's period mood swings and I like to call it my "Man Period." Anywho I find that, during these times, I simply can't find the right focus, intention, drive or motivation to record lines how I truly feel they should be. Nothing comes out sounding as I think it should and it really discourages me greatly during these times. However, I can go back and record the same lines after a few days to a week and it sounds 1000% better and I feel confident about when I do it.

Does anyone else experience "Those Times" where you find that you simply can't record for one reason or another and, if you do, what types of things do you do to put yourself in the proper frame of mind to actually set yourself to the task at hand?

Yep I was gonna say that, also extra sleep. If it doesn't help if you can't record you can't. Get lines done when you feel OK^^,,

Extra sleep really helps. I know that sometimes when I'm tired I just can't record lines because they end up sounding like crap.

I hate chocolate and sleep normally doesn't help personally since my "Weirdness" seems to last for a few days at a time.

A shot glass full of vinegar normally works. Of course you have to own both those things. If not, carrots between each toe.

Here's a snippet from 'Seiyru's Big Book of VA Stuff'

VA de·pres·sion (Vee-Aay Duh-preh-shun)
n.

1. A point (or several points) in a voice actor's career when any line recorded, to them, sounds akward and in need of work.
2. When focus on voice acting lines and projects is lowered temporarily, usually due to events relating to both the online and offline world.
3. Slang. Nickname for a baby echinda.

I dont feel the motivation to record when I'm in an uncomfortable surrounding, such as company, family, or what have you. Then again I also find that I need to record in uncomfortable positions like that in order to gain confidence. If I (or anyone else) am ever going to record or audition for a major company, I need to be comfortable in any surroundings.
