Yea.. today (exactly 8 days into school) we've had our first lock down.

A boy brought a gun to school and had it in his pockets.

We all had to sit in the corner, away from the window, with the lights off and the door locked as the security guards chased this boy. No one was hurt though, which is good.

Last year, 6-7 bomb threats were made (people's memories were a bit scattered). Only 3 times did we have to leave the campus and nothing ever happened (in fact, one time it was just a box for the construction workers!).

We have 58 security guards on campus, must always wear our student ID's so we can be identified, and there are cameras at the school.

We have about seven to eight fights a day, most not resulting in serious injury, though one kid did have his arm broken in several places during freshmanizing.

I've only been in five or six fights myself, all of them being when some chola thought that I was looking at her boyfriend. -_-'

I was just wondering... is this normal for a public high school? O.o;

Oo;;;;;;;; That's amazingly bad. Whoa.

My later HS (I went to two....) was an open campus, had never had a physical fight in 15 years, and didn't have an official dress code. That's not normal, either.

Wow,. We have like two security guards, are required to were and ID badge, but nothing like that. I've only been in one fight and it was completely verbal. Some chick though I made her boyfriend cheat on her...and I didn't even know who he was. @_@

Yea, we have a really big school in one of the worst states in the US so I guess it's to be expected... the worst part is?

The other public high school is worse. O.o;

we had one bomb threat, everyone used it to their favor and told the teachers they were scared and went home. o.o

Sweet baby peas - when I went to high school annual bomb threats were considered a given. It's not like you can actually ignore one, after all...

Interesting. I wonder how my old school is doing. My last year there, they had drug dogs and police in the halls every week, cameras EVERYWHERE... Stupid world. It wasnt like this when I was a kid. Hurts that my kid has to grow up in this.

Also, this was a catholic school I went to.

Why is your school closed down?

Shadow
08-31-2005, 10:42 PM
Finacial reasons, but there were fights alot there....and theft. I've gotten in a few fights in high school, and things (like an expensive cd player) stollen from me.

no cameras though....just two security guards....that didn't really secure anything :?

Jessica Adnee

Oh... then I think I still win! XD

Finacial reasons and theft doesn't match up to six bomb threats and a kid with a gun on the second week! XD

Yea... I've had a lot of stuff stolen from me. You just can't leave you're stuff alone in certain places. There are a lot of people that steal and some that don't. But yea... SFH isn't as bad as Capitol. *shudders*

As far as I know, my school hasn't had a bomb threat. At my old school a few years ago, we had cherry bombed toilets and one knife-flasher, but other than that, no reason for a lock down.

Your school actually scares me a bit; you should transfer, unless you're actually comfortable with it. Although I'd have friends there, I wouldn't feel that safe if kids were fighting every day.

Glad you're safe, though!

I actually feel pretty safe. It's not as bad as it sounds!

I mean, there are bad people but you can avoid them really easily.

Heh, I probably went to a high school in one of the toughest neighborhoods in The Bronx but I can't recall much in the way of fighting, let alone bomb threats. No metal detectors or cameras either, just a few security guards. The only time they even searched people was during Halloween which seemed to always bring out the idiots. Otherwise, any real trouble usually happened outside.

Edit: Like MechanicalPixie just said, as long as you don't go looking for trouble, it doesn't come looking for you. Maybe that's why I remember the place so fondly.

We got a lot of bomb threats in my middle school. And we found a hit list from a guy at my high school.

Never really knew if it was for REAL or not though. o_O

I don't think we've ever had a bomb threat, and we only have one bored cop. o.o

Gah, we had so much crap like bomb threats and whatnot at the school I went to last year. Every year, and I mean EVERY YEAR, we had at LEAST four bomb threats. Last year, we had three within two days. X_x
A year before that (and it might have been last years as well, can't remember) there were bomb threats sent in to the local high-, middle, and elementary schools, all in the same day.

We had about one serious fight every month or so. The worst was actually in middle school, during lunch: kid got his nose broken in three places(NOT pretty), and there were rumors of the other kid having had metal wire wrapped around his hand (no one found out if it was really true or not, though). We had one or two major fights last year, both of which required the janitorial squad to come by later to mop up a bit of blood.

...
I am so proud.

We've had a bomb scare before at school. *nods* Only I was sick on the day and missed it. >D ('Cause I was at home.) My sister told me all about it afterwards.

Alright, yea... we had another lock down.

There was a riot at the OTHER public school (something about a south sider throwing a frito pie at a west sider) but they locked us down too.

They didn't want the fight to come over to our school since we have a lot of kids in gangs too I guess.

Frankly, I think it was a really dumb reason to lock down but whatever!

Last week, there was a message on the boy's bathroom wall. "Tomorrow will be a repeat of Columbine." Idiots seemed to forget the camera outside the bathroom showing who came in and out of the bathroom around the time the message was posted.

Expelled and sent to boot camp.

There was this one time where two girls were fighting in the hallway and we had to lock down. That was the only time we had to seriously lock down, and we only had about two or three drills that year. We didn't back up into a corner with the lights off or anything, we just pulled down a curtain over the only window in the room and hung around for about a period and a half. I ended up missing social studies, but I could have cared less about that particular subject.

I'm not in high school anymore, but back when I was... we had people with weapons a few times a year, but they tried to keep it hush hush. Locking us down in our class rooms, calling up the student, and searching them, their locker, and their car (if they had one).

We only have ONE bomb threat, but my school did NOT handle it well at ALL! It was a sunny hot day so rather then send us all home they had us sit... in the middle of a field... for 4 HOURS! That's more then half the school day. They then tried sending us to class, but by that time, everyone was passing out from sitting in the heat for so long that we all went home anyways.

I'll never forget sitting there with like 30 other people waiting for a ride as they gave us orange juice to try and perk us up so our families wouldn't know what they had put us through.

God I hated my high school.

At my current high-scholl, we haven't had any bomb threats. Just three gang-fights, numerous non-gang ones, and a few prank fire-drills. -_-
