For Timetunnel Productions, I have adapted the brilliant play Sleuth by Anthony Shaffer into an audio drama play.
The plot:
Writer of detective novels, Andrew Wyke, discovers his wife is having an affair and invites her lover, the young and handsome, Milo Tindle, to his country house to stage a robbery as a part of an insurance scam. But Andrew's true intention is for Milo to set up the events for his own death where he will shoot him in self-defence and avoids prison.
Character Required:
ANDREW WYKE
Late 50 year old man.
Eccentric, sadistic, enjoys putting on voices. Well described as a "big kid", but also respected of his age.
English. But needs to be able to do a faux Italian voice, and a faux American gangster voice.
Audition lines:
1. "My dear boy, let us have no misunderstanding. I’ve nothing against you marrying Marguerite. There’s nothing I want more than to see you two tucked up together. But it’s got to be a fixture. I want to be rid of her for life, not just a two week Tindle Tour, economy class."
2. "(dramatic voice) The body lay on its back, its limbs grotesquely slayed like a broken puppet. The whole head had been pulped as if by some superhuman force.
(Inspector voice) “My God”, breathed the Inspector, blenching. “Thompson, you’d better get a tarpaulin… Excuse me sir, but was all this violence strictly necessary?”
(normal voice) I’m sorry Inspector. It was when I saw him handling my wife’s nightdresses. I must have completely lost control of myself.
(Inspector voice) “That’s quite alright sir. Don’t get excited. I quite understand.”
(normal) No I don’t like it.
All auditions to be recorded in 44100hz 16-bit Stereo MP3, named as "andrewwyke_yourname.mp3" (e.g. andrewwyke_johndoe.mp3).
