Story Intro
After being set up and left for dead, you awaken bleeding in a ditch beneath the wreckage of your car. With no recollection of the preceding events you stare deeply into the wilderness stretching before you. The only thing between you and civilization is an ancient dark structure resting in the heart of the woods. Navigate your way through this abysmal place and into the black city of Prosperity, a city where god has no name and the light has been long forgotten...

Job Parameters
Voices are part of the last step in completion of a long worked on independent video game by a passionate developer known as Justabox. This final version of Grave Prosperity will represent the last of the series on it's current engine. Voices are needed to give the story and game play that last touch of finesse in order to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for the game player. The overall demand should be rather low, with the story not having much dialogue in general compared to say a commercially release game with full voice acting. However it should still offer a fair amount of versatility as far as showing emotional scenes, sadness, anger, empathy etc. As well as the need for action sounds, such as grunts, chortles, cries and such. All characters are considered to have some level of vulgarity, nothing profound, mostly exclamations in action sequences, but it's there. Grave Prosperity will be released as a free game so unfortunately there is no money to be paid for work, we can however offer first dibs on reprising roles in a future pay version of the game (provided launch, and future work leads in that direction). The game is broken down into 4 parts, we are currently requesting voice acting for parts 1-3. Should actors wish to be contacted to reprise their role for either part 4, or a future release a section has been added to your submissions for that and will be considered when hiring (but we do not expect promises, only an expectation to get an E-Mail from us in the future, you are welcome to say no).
We really look forward to hearing auditions and in turn being blessed with the opportunity to have the talented people here breath life into these characters.
This identical posting is also on one other site called Voice Acting Club, and people of interest may also apply directly through the Grave Prosperity official website. We will be considering all applications evenly, and only once the deadline has been reached.

Actors still needed, all applications being reviewed on the 15th of July, so there is still time for everyone to get one in.
There has been the odd question so they will be addressed now.

Reprise Role
This means if you are willing to be contacted directly in the future to reprise your role for the character applied as.

Applying w One Voice for all Gender Roles
We have gotten some applications like this. This is definitely acceptable.

Feedback
Initially this was accidentally left out of the original post, but we will be providing feedback to all applicants in order to help them either grow as an artist or understand why they weren't suited for our project.

Quality
We would also like to point out that we do have an in house audio guy who can clean up these tracks, this doesn't mean you shouldn't do any cleaning if you can, because it will count against, but it does mean we can clean it up for you if you are unable.
Do not be intimidated by this project, we encourage all to apply!

Looking forward to more applications, and to listening to all the audio on July 15th.

T (http://soundcloud.com/samuels-voice-auditions/rick-shroder-audition)hese are my auditions. I'd prefer to have Rick Shroder's role over others, but any work you can give me is good work.

When a cast is chosen, when would recording begin?

Apologies for the late reply, email notifications were not turned on.

When the cast is chosen lines will be sent out immediately, as they are all complete and are waiting to come to life!
The launch date for the game of October 30 2012 is likely going to be the plan, so we will encourage the chosen cast to send their clips in as a complete set. With no 'rush' necessary, but I assume people will want to complete them and move on.

Additionally, we will be making a short trailer using some of the voices to help build hype for the game. We plan to keep this forum informed on the progress of their work so that they can link to it and show it as credited accordingly to them the artist.

Today will be the final day for auditions. They will be reviewed tomorrow due to scheduling conflicts with the developer and Bon Ink.

Thanks to everyone who applied and for your interest!

P.S. We have been sending out confirmation emails within 12hours of receiving your application, if you have not received an email and have applied please resend the application if possible (check your junk folders), and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Jon Bon here,

I want to start with giving a big emphatic thank you to those of you that applied. We got 11 audition reels sent in and they were all far past 'acceptable' and by far exceeded our (Justabox and myself) hopes for bringing voices and there for life to his game.
Of the 11 auditions for our 12 roles 8 people were cast into all 12 roles for part 1 based on the fit of their voice (since some roles are small and some actors auditioned for multiple parts with different voices). The remaining 3 actors will be asked to join in for part 2 (set to launch one month after part 1) for roles their voices suit perfectly (if they are interested).
There were no 'duds' here, only talented people passionate about their craft, some with more experience then others, and all with the perfect voice for a role.

Tips
I did notice some varying degrees in the methods in which people presented themselves, and personally never would have thought to suggest these things before and or include them were I to have applied myself. None of these really factored into picking someone or not for a role, these were just notable things that did make people stand out, but because the voices were all so good, it wasn't a matter of rejecting anyone just a matter of picking the role best suited for their given voice.
-Name your audition file with your name and the project name IE: John Smith - Project I'm Applying For. This helps it keep organized, I was going to suggest it here, then noticed a few already had used this method.
-Don't be afraid to try a 'one take' audition. Two actors decided to audition with one take and have them just read the lines, it was impactful.
-Don't be afraid to try multiple takes of the same line it can show depth, range and an ability to provide quality with variation for easier editing. If you can deliver the same line in the same tone, 3 different ways, that can help huge with the editing, excellent to show on an audition tape.
-If you are well established or have examples of similar works, link us to your portfolio. This way if your voice suits perfect then you can read through some lines for the role. This can end up saving us both time, and we were lucky to have all voices that had perfect homes, but we would hate to waste peoples time if they are uncertain to the project.

With all that said, the applications were all as I said above far past acceptable, and I(we) couldn't have anticipated this warm of a welcome onto this(theses) site(s).

Casting Process
Emails will be going out today to the auditioned cast, and there will literally be at least one role for each person who auditioned. They will not all come at once, we still have to go back and forth, but everyone should be contacted by the end of today or by tomorrow morning depending on your timezone.
Part 1 of 3 available parts for voice acting (of a total 4 parts, fourth is not complete in any capacity) is where we will begin. This means the actors will be receiving their lines for part 1, and once part 1 is complete we can send out part 2, and follow suit accordingly. This is to keep things more organized for us the small time indie developers and publisher, as well as not to overwhelm any of the main cast or actors playing multiple roles with a potentially large amount of lines. There for we will focus on one part at a time, and consider each part after part 1, a 'reprisal of role' since they all have a separate launch date, and this will allow actors to not feel locked down. Work loads should be generically small so I hope none of the actors have an issue with this, if this does cause scheduling conflicts, I believe a rush deliver of lines from us to you is possible in that event. We want to work with you to make this as easy and enjoyable an experience as possible.
I have already learned so much about this process from this one successful audition process, and I am looking forward to working with the people who audition in the near future and maybe even further. The other developers I work with will be pleased to hear this went successfully, and I would expect them to consider voice acted parts in their games to be more of a reality.

Again I(we) appreciate everyone's time and effort towards this project, and I am always open to feedback regarding how I(we) have gone about things.
-Thanks one last time
/Jon Bon

Hello everyone here at the forums.

Some of the voice actors who were casted for the roles listed in the original post have not gotten back to us regarding their lines. For this reason we have been forced to enter a recasting process for the above 4 roles.
The main post has been altered accordingly to reflect the launch date, lines due date, and 4 necessary characters.
Other then the four voices needed Part 1 of Grave Prosperity Volume 1 is 100% complete and the release candidate is ready to go.

We would appreciate any help from the voice actors here regarding the small roles left to fill, thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just wanted to mention that the positions currently needed are light demand on lines, but will be reoccurring for Part 2. Additionally, we have the lines ready to go, with video to go along side to make reading that much easier.
Also the developer was kind enough to create an exclusive media demonstration of the voice acting paired to the game for viewing on this forum and the other we are recruiting on only. In otherwords you guys are the first to see this much game footage at one time in one place. I hope you enjoy and it entices people to want to lend their talent to the passionate and dedicated work of the developer who Bon Ink is publishing for free for that very reason.
Enjoy! (I also added it to the main post) (http://youtu.be/9S5sA9jJRSs)
