View Full Version : Female Singers Needed For Singing/Vocal Role(s?) in a Tabletop Game!

Hello everyone, ChrisDark here, the eternally-forever-incomplete producer of such fine radioplays as (INSERT LONG LIST HERE), oncemore back at the VAA, but this time with something that can actually be completed! Recently I've joined on a friend's tabletop game, and, to avoid boring you with all the details, I ended up creating NPCs for him to work with for this Super Robot Wars-esque mech game.

One of these NPCs, Mia Soryo, is unique in that unlike the others who do your standard mecha-character approach to problems (i.e. blowing up everything forever), she has a bit more of a pacifist agenda; she puts on her best Basara Nekki impersonation and drops in uninvited to fights, in this case the fights the players will be involved in, and sings at everyone, inducing stat buffs/debuffs depending on the situation. What drives this young woman to do quite possibly the stupidest, most insane thing anyone could think of doing in a firefight? I dunno, maybe her parents coddled her too much, perhaps she's just absolutely crazy or an adrenaline junkie, or maybe there's something else driving her forward (something cliche-ridden. It's mecha, what can you expect?).

Jokes aside, as this character sings whenever she shows up, and because I figured I'd try my hand at working with you fine people of the VAA oncemore, I decided that a great way to bring a feeling of immersion to the game would be to pick out an official voice actress for her, one who could sing English versions of the songs I've ended up picking out for her and occasionally have a few lines (something that, depending on the popularity of this project, I'd like to branch out to other NPCs). Here's where you all come in.

I'm looking for a female voice actress with either experience or just plain skill and determination, who can bring this 19 year old cocky and talented mecha-piloting songstress to life through the power of song. As such, I've picked out a song which covers the vocal range I'm looking for with this character; "IN MY DREAM" by Eri Shingyouji, a.k.a. the OP of Brain Powerd. Links to the original song, the karaoke version, and English lyrics can be found at the end of this post.

There will be two deadlines; July 12th will be the deadline if I'm absolutely blown out of the water by the performances shown/completely swamped with applications, and as such will probably not come into play due to having to compete for your attention against quite a few other interesting projects (seriously, a Dick Tracy radioplay? Oh, if I had a better mic...), and the extended deadline will be July 26th, a month from now. If you get this role, you'll eventually have to cover about, oh, say, four or five different songs, depending on how this game plays out, with a few lines inbetween. If you DON'T get this role, don't fret just yet! There's other roles for later characters (and some that're active now), and if I get a feeling you've got what I'm looking for, then you're first pick when that comes up!

I appreciate the time you took to read up this extremely long-winded post, hope you think about signing up for this small project, and am very happy and willing to answer any questions you may have about the project or Mia/whatever characters may eventually get a speaking role. Well, without further ado, it's time to get to the important stuff.

You don't need to splice the karaoke version and your song together, I just added that on in case it could help some people out with singing; all you need to do is send me a PM or a post with a link to you singing it, mention when the song starts on your recording, and if you get the role, I'll do the rest! Easy as pie!

EDIT: Also I should really add that I have no idea if this would be fan audio or original, since while the characters and story are all original, the mechs are preexisting from franchises such at Macross, Gundam, etc. etc. As such, I saw fit to put it here, but if a moderator sees fit to toss this over to original, I have no problem with that!
