Hey, VAA! I've been auditioning for lots of projects for awhile on here, but I haven't really posted a project yet - so here goes nothing!

I recently wrote/have been writing a fan fiction based on the chaotic adult-less storyline of Jack White's music video for Sixteen Saltines. To show some fans, I figured I'd recruit readers (VAs) to make the story more exciting!

Please send all auditions in .MP3 or .WAV format to saiku1405@yahoo.com. No RARs or ZIPs, please.

Also, please be sure your microphone is high quality, i.e. no pops or puffs. Seeing as this is an audio production, the audio is the most important part of the project.

Be forewarned, there is a lot of profanity in this (f-bombs, s-bombs, etc.), as there is a lot of tension in the story and no disciplinary actions for kids swearing in the story. If you are easily offended by profanity, I wouldn't advise that you audition.

The deadline is June 30th. If I don't have enough auditions in time, it will be extended (I'll update this post).

Now on to the characters!

Main Characters:

Jack White
A 36 year old popular blues rock/alternative rock musician of today, he is main character of the story. Must have a very high emotional range; must be able to be caring and kind, cool and collected, hot-headed and angry, sad and despairing, etc. Seeing as this story is in first person, Jack is the narrator as well, so you must be able to read well in the voice.
Voice Type: Medium-Low Voice. I want him to sound as close to his real voice as possible. Look up some recent interviews with him on YouTube for reference, or message/email me if you have any questions.
Line 1 (Worriedly): “Henry? Scarlett?” I called. No response. I went to all the bedrooms, ending in my room, and looked under every bed and in every closet. No sign of them. Shit, shit, shit. I picked up the phone receiver on the bedside table and immediately dialed my ex-wife’s number. It rang for what seemed like hours before she finally picked up.
Line 2 (Rushing): Just as I was about to turn, the car stalled and wouldn’t move. No! Not when I was so close! I looked at the gas meter. Empty. Damn it! I guessed I would have to walk on foot if I wanted to reach that boot camp. As I began to step out of the car, I saw a few kids standing around in the front yard of a house ahead of me. They were eyeing me, as well as the car, apparently trying to see who I was.
Line 3 (Angrily): “You’re taking my fucking children away from me, and you want me to do nothing about it?” I yelled.

Scarlett
Jack's adorable five year old daughter, who knows how to get her way with her father. Must have a typical young child's emotional range; pouty and upset, happy and squealing, and other adorableness.
Voice Type: High Voice. A typical five year old voice, with extra cuteness.
Line 1 (Quietly, then excitedly): Oh, okay…Daddy, let’s play horsies!
Line 2 (Happily): Yay! That sounds like fun!
Line 3 (Frightened out of her wits): DADDY!

Henry
Jack's four year old son, who's very docile and has a lot to learn yet. Must be very quiet and shy. Can either be voiced by a male or female, whoever suits him best.
Voice Type: High Voice. A four year old voice with typical four year old speech impediments, etc. Like I said, a male or female can voice him, doesn't matter.
Line 1 (Half-afraid, half-pouty): Daddy, I’m scared, I don’t wanna move!
Line 2 (Curiously): Daddy? What are we doing?
Line 3 (Frightened out of his wits): DADDY!

Rose
A mysterious 15 year old girl that has connections Jack can use to his advantage. Can be stubborn, and has a low emotional range (anger and monotone are really her only expressions, only occasionally caring or happiness).
Voice Type: Medium Voice. However you think a 15 year old would sound - but not a spunky one, one that is a kind of downer on everything and is negative.
Line 1 (Half-angry, half-narratively): All right...I’ll tell you. We kids got sick of adults always bossing us around, telling us what to do, what not to do, setting limits and barriers for us. So, Jasper, Gunther, and John, our leaders, devised a plan that would wipe out all adults: set off bombs that would only affect adults and would kill them.
Line 2 (Tell tale-like, but a bit monotone): We live in a corrupted world, Mr. White. No shame in just making it more so.
Line 3 (Showing a little happiness, but still a bit monotone): Okay, then. Good luck…hope you find your kids.

John
The main antagonist of the story. At only 15, he has a deep hatred for adults (because his parents abused him), but his young appearance and voice always cause him to be underestimated. Not a force to be reckoned with.
Voice Type: Medium Voice. Should sound a little bit childish, but must be able to be very angry. Has a medium emotional range.
Line 1 (Pure hatred in the voice): I HATE my parents. I'll never forgive them for what they did to me and my sister!
Line 2 (Sinister): We're going to take you for a little ride...and you aren't coming back.
Line 3 (Betrayed, then angry): You traitor! We'll lock you up with him...if these idiots ever FIND him!

Jasper and Gunther
The 17 year old secondary antagonists of the story. They are twin brothers that also hate adults, as their parents were alcoholics and, as a result, also abusive. They are best friends with John. Very low emotional range. May have the same person do both brothers, or just one as each, if I can find two similar voices.
Voice Type: Low Voice. Both of them should sound like the kind of kid you'd find at a Metallica concert, very deep voices and very menacing, but no raspiness, just a deep guy voice.
Line 1 (Proudly): John, look who we found helping out an adult.
Line 2 (Furiously): NOBODY hurts my brother! I'll kill you for that!
Line 3 (Authoritatively): Thanks for your efforts, Zak. John will be proud of you.

Minor Roles:

Karen
Jack's 33 year old ex-wife. They maintain a healthy friendship, they just are no longer married. Only appears on her voicemail.
Voice Type: Medium-High Voice. Must have a British accent, but not one that's obviously an accent, one that sounds natural.
Line 1 (She is pretending she is talking when it is actually a recording, like in many prankster voicemails): Yeah? Uh-huh. Mm-hm. I see. Sorry, but as you’ve probably guessed, I’m not at the phone right now. Please leave a message and I’ll call you back as soon as possible. Thanks!

Mysterious Teen
A tough-guy teen with such a monotone voice that it is actually a little horrifying. He leads kids to try to kill Jack.
Voice Type: Medium to Low Voice. Must have no emotion.
Line 1 (Literally no emotion, except maybe an angry emphasis on 'adult'): Goodbye, adult.
Line 2 (He is dumbfounded, but does not show it at all in his voice): You’re not supposed to be alive.

Megan
A sporty teenage girl that is part of a group that attacks Jack and tackles him.
Voice Type: Medium-High Voice. Just sound like a typical sporty teenage girl.
Line 1 (Almost scolding in the beginning, then subtly proud): Yeah, no thanks to you guys. I don’t know how the hell this guy is alive, but we’ve got him. John’ll be happy with me.
Line 2 (The tone of voice that would correspond with one rolling their eyes): Yeah, yeah, whatever, Zak.

Zak
A hateful boy with no manners, acts rocker-like. Also part of the group that attacks Jack.
Voice Type: Medium-Low Voice. Sound like a typical teenage boy that would be into rock and the like, maybe a bit of gruff would work.
Line 1 (Confrontingly at first, then surprised, like he realized something): All right, adult, who the hell are you, and how are you – holy shit!
Line 2 (Half-cockily, half-authoritatively): You answer a girl when she asks you a question, jackass!

Teenage Boys/Girls
Random teenagers throughout the story that are ought to get Jack. Some are on the street, some are members of the group that attacks him, etc. Can really be any vocal range, as long as they sound like a teen.
Vocal Range: Like I said above, any range is acceptable as long as you sound like a teenager.
Line 1 (Curiously): What? What is it?
Line 2 (Surprised): NO WAY!
Line 3 (Yelling, as if to signal others): Don't let him get away!

That's it! If any other characters come up, I'll edit this thread. :3 Hopefully everything above answered all of your questions; if not, just send me a message or an email (at saiku1405@yahoo.com), and hopefully I'll clear everything up for you.

Good luck to everyone who auditions!
