PROJECT INFO:
I am looking for a young singer to perform an adaptation of "Go the Distance" from Disney's Hercules in a rather appropriate language: ancient/classical Greek. A male performer is preferred, though I fear officially excluding females might doom this project entirely, given the lack of male response to my previous postings. Some prior knowledge of the language is preferred, but instruction on pronunciation (including full IPA transcription if desired) will be provided if you have none but are still interested in the project. The lyrics are based on the pop version by Michael Bolton.
A comprehensive pronunciation guide can be found at http://www.hsmespanol.com/Archaia_Hellenike_Phone.jpg
DEADLINE: May 30, 2012
RECORDING FORMAT/DELIVERY: 16-bit Stereo MP3 sent as an attachment to linguaphile@earthlink.net (with prior notification of intent to audition on this thread), including "CAG Hercules Audition" in the subject (in case you're curious, the "CAG" stands for "classical Attic Greek").
Audition Verse (with line-by-line Roman-alphabet transcriptions and English counterparts for synchronization)
Ἔνθα ποθ' ἥξω. (Entha pot' hexo. - I'll be there someday.)
Τὴν ὁδόν πως τελῶ. (Ten hodon pos telo - I can go the distance.)
Τρόπον εὑρήσω (Tropon heureso - I will find my way)
ἐᾱ̀ν μέγας ῶ. (Ean megas o. - If I can be strong.)
Ἀξιῶ τοῦ χρόνου (Axio tou chronou - I know every mile)
πᾶν σταδίον οῦν, (Pan stadion oun - Will be worth my while.)
μέχρι ἥκω ὅπου (Mechri heko hopou - When I go the distance,
ἀληθῶς πρέπῃ μ'εῖναι (Alethos prepei m'einai. - I'll be right where I belong.)
Thanks in advance for your participation!
